I have know Tip for a good number of years and feel very sad about his death, on the other side of the coin lets not persecute the driver of the other car, remember the phrase--there but for the grace of God I go, How many of us can say that We have never made a mistake when driveing that could have resulted in a wreck? Just think about it, it could happen to any one of us, We are not infallable.

I knew Tip, though not well, and I don't think from the converstations I had with him that he would want the book throw at Deb Soost.  She is a hard working woman who is a responsible citizen, but she messed-up, and now someone that I am sure she has even chatted with from time to time is dead.  How tragic.  We don't need to make it worse by stringing her up.  If it turns out she was impaired, then it is different to me, and she should be severly punished.  If straight, then come on, she is not a criminal, she got careless and I agree about living with it will be hell.  I know her and this will tear her apart, someone better watch her and make sure she does not kill herself over this.  She is kind and sensitive.

I agree with BDV. I don't think the lady should be strung up either. It has been two years since the same thing happened to my brother, the criminal trial for the man that hit him is starting next week. It has been a really hard two years (the constant waiting for it to be over), I hope Tip's family and friends won't have to endure that kind of pain.

As for the automobile drivers, I don't think ruining them financially or putting them in jail is justice. I have no ill feelings for the man who killed my brother.

It was a senseless mistake (in both cases), but we all make them. I can only imagine what Ms. Soost must be feeling.

My heart goes out to both parties, because being involved in an identical issue has taught me to step back and look at the total picture.

Ok minnow, you can tell me you don't care what I think, you owe me one.

Did anyone see the parade of motorcycles today in honor of Tip?
I didn't see it, but there is a picture in today's paper.  It's not in their photo gallery, though.  I did talk to one cycle rider who told me the procession on the way over to Austin was almost 5 miles long.

I believe it.  I was by the church and with all the bikes it looked like a motorcycle convention.

I didn't know Tip well, but he was my neighbor so we chatted many times as he rode by on his bike.  I agree with the above posts that Tip would want us to think of both families involved in this.  It was an accident, and that's all.  I agree that it is unfortunate, but it happens.  Tip was an awesome person who did a lot of good and will be greatly missed, but I also think that he would be the first one to say lets not drag this out.  The fact of the matter is, it's part of life.  Nothing that is done from this point on is going to bring him back.  It will only hurt everyone involved (Both Families) more.
And as for a small message to Tip, Ride On Forever!!!  You will be missed!

There was over 300 motorcycles in the funeral procession for Tip. Even Father Schneider rode his motorcycle in the procession. They figured they would serve about 250 people for lunch. They had 800 people come. What a tribute to a man who was very good for this community.

In Rochester he'd just be long hair drug hippie biker and up to no good. A monster to our children.
I suspect that he didn't spend much time there.  :(

Prayers to his family at this time and to all of you who have lost a loved one this year. We take so much for granted and need to let our family members, friends and all of our loved ones know what they mean to us while they are still here. A peaceful Easter to all.
