I too have seen a few motorcycle riders without common sense. I do believe though that most of the accidents are caused by the car drivers. I have two sons with cycles and they are always saying how people pull out in front of them. Maybe it's because the size of the cycle makes it harder to judge just how fast it is going. I think most of the ones dodging in and out of traffic are riding "crotch rockets"...and I guess I don't really think of those as motorcycles.( Maybe it's my "old" age) :)

A conclusion is simply the place where you got tired of thinking.

Just my two cents on the issue, I think any motorcyclist who doesn't wear a helmet and dies from head injuries in an accident is just Darwin proving he's right.  I feel really sorry for this guy's family, and if the SUV driver was at fault he should be punished to the full extent of the law.

Mama ... I don't think anyone is disputing the fact that cars cause a lot of the accidents. Our points are being made by both sides of the situation and I believe they are the same points. But no one can disregard the fact that there are a lot of motorcycles out there "with attitudes" so to speak.

Crotch Rockets ARE motorcycles. I think they look a lot scarier because of the way the rider sits on them ... and the fact that they can go really fast. I personally think it's scary seeing all of these kids on them. One guy who was very young came to a stop light and could barely hold the bike up. He wobbled back and forth coming to a stop ... no helmet ... his face looked a bit terrified too. But ... then when the light turned red he barrel assed out of there going around other cars illegally.

I agree with LisaMarie ... riding without a helmet is like playing Russian Roulete with your life. It's a free for all when it comes to bikes, but by god if your in a car you better have your seat belt on!!!!!!!!!!  :p

Madd Max ... I'm so sorry, it sounds like you knew the guy. I know how your feeling, I've lost people in accidents also. My best to you.

His name sounds familiar to me but I can't place him.

I envy guys like Tip. Guys with the courage to live life to its fullest. I'm finally in the position of purchasing my dream Harley or custom and would love to. I ended up getting into bicycles instead and not just for health reasons.

Sometimes I wish I could be more like Tip.

Tip was the most "biker" looking guy you've ever seen, with a heart as big as his motorcycle. He will be missed by all of us that ride.

My condolences go out to his family and friends.

and to Minnow, we don't care about your dog, your desire to be like someone else, or your ability to afford a new Harley.

You're a moron.
