It was between Wal-mart and Home Depot on Blake Avenue, a motorcycle T-boned an SUV.

At least 1 fatality from head injuries. The driver of the SUV had to be taken out of her vehicle by the fire dept. and was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Ya...how clever you are with words. The motorcycles aren't the problem. It's the drivers who can't seem to get it into their heads that a motorcycle is entitled to be on the road. People need to be more aware of them and realize that they are there. I hate it when stupidity kills people.

Yes, I agree. That is the problem. Respect. Many drivers don't respect, bicycles, motorcycles and dog walkers. I was almost killed walking my dog last night. I knew the driver was going to error and did. It was pure instinct that saved my life. I KNEW they were going to error and the punk missed us by a couple of feet at best.

I'm considering carrying a cell and bright light so I can call in plates. Kids tend to drive fast and selfish. Most goofy drivers appear to be under 25, maybe I'm a bit biased, but the worst drivers appear to be young.

Nonetheless, another sad occurance that will mark the spring, a cycle fatality. My condolences to the family. My mother called knowing that I had mentioned I needed to go to Walmart thinking that I might have been involved and I called my brother a cyclist having a gut feeling that he too was headed to walmart. Was glad to hear him pick up his cellphone, ironically, he was at Walmart and came upon the scene minutes after it happened. Said that there were 2 other bikes on the side of the road, like the 3 had been riding together. In a town this size, we all know that most of us will have known this individual if he was a native. Hug your family and pray for the family of this unfortunate soul. I know I will.

I disagree mamma & minnow, I think the problem is the cycle drivers themselves most of the time.  I'm sure some are good drivers, but too many of them act like no one else is on the road.  I've had to be careful a few times from them almost running into me while zig zagging between lanes.
I had a friend who died on a motorcycle, its a shame when it happens to someone you know, but I don't recall an incident I know of personally where it wasn't the cyclists fault.  I think when this happens, too often we blame the car driver without finding out who really was at fault.

Just to clarify, I'm don't know the specifics of this incident by Wal-Mart, just responding to the generalizations comparing car & motorcycle drivers.

I agree with you irisheyes, all except I do know of times when it was the driver of a vehicals fault. It's not always the cycles fault.

But I've seen bikes weave in and out of traffic ... pass on the left of a one lane highway ... etc. I mean no disrespect to anyone who has lost someone from a cycle accident, I too have lost good freinds who rode bikes.
