No more part time cops?
Posted on: Jun. 30 2014,1:34 pm by Glad I Left

Among the new laws according to: KAAL (link)

QUOTE
PART-TIME POLICE

Part-time police officers will become a thing of the past under a law that took effect Monday. Law enforcement agencies can no longer hire part-time officers. Current part-timers - the state has 175 of them - can keep their jobs until they retire, but they can't move to new agencies. Supporters of the law said it was necessary to professionalize the state's police officers.

I can easily see both sides of this issue.  I feel for small towns that may not have the budget to only hire full time officers.

VA  Medical Center
sign up
Posted on: Jun. 25 2014,11:22 am by usmcr

i am a veteran, so i decided to sign up for the medical benefits. sent in the paper work & received back the confirmation information. they require a picture id card. checked out the new facility in town & they informed me that i would have to go to mpls to take the picture. mason city as well as rochester also does not take the pictures. so in order to have anything done in a.lea i have to go to mpls first. if i want a passport all i need to do is go up to the post office. go figure!~goverment don't you just love it!  :sarcasm:
