It really doesn't matter what you label the rifle or how many laws you have— this rifle is getting into the wrong hands.
Maybe this weapon should be restricted to those who have actually completed their military obligation to this country. that would cover the well regulated Militia part of the 2nd Amendment.
First thing on the news this morning talk of a ban, well the NRA and folks like SB and Dragon brought this on themselves.
As for SB who thinks you arm everyone and that'll fix it.. If you happened on one of these shootings you'd have your lady smith in your front pocket and a turd in your back pocket as your fat cherry ass ran down the road. In a shooting situation like this if all you rookies were armed we'd have more friendly fire deaths than not. and when the police got there it be blood bath, you NRA types are all crazy and should be on the no buy list...

How nice of you to lay blame at the feet of the NRA and people who don't support further infringements. The NRA isn't to blame, Congress isn't to blame, nor are those who resist further infringements. Look I get it, people are looking for reasons to place blame, emotions tend to do that. Let's place the blame solely where it belongs, on the shooter himself. I refuse to bear ANY responsibility, I didn't do it, quit blaming others, it's lazy, and disingenuous.
You do know the first part of the 2nd Amendment is a prefatory clause and has ZERO bearing on the enumerated right itself, yes?

How these guys are getting these military style rifles in the first place shows a weakness in the system. Local law enforcement had been at this kid's house 39 times, that should have been a red light on this guy.
Last time I bought a pistol it required I go to the local sheriff and fill out paperwork locally before cleared to own a handgun..the same procedure should be required for military type rifles.
Local authorities have access to firsthand information about their local residents that may not be available on the federal level.
I'm not up on these firearm checks but something is wrong in the way we're doing it...

I'm not up on these firearm checks but something is wrong in the way we're doing it... Every single one of those shooters that were involved where multiple people died had passed a background check. The NICS cannot pull a "Minority Report" it just isn't possible nor is it possible to determine what is going on in one's head.
The AR 15 is not a military style rifle, it just looks like one. If we were to use your standard, the Remington Model 700, is a military style rife since it is designated as the M24, we can even throw in the M1911, and the M9.
I too remember going through all the BS to purchase a pistol in MN when I lived there, it's dumb. Where I live, I walk in purchase a pistol/rifle/what have you, the FFL runs my background, 3 minutes later I'm out the door with a new firearm, and on my way to the range to sight it in.

Souch nails it
Morality and ethics are out the window. They went away with trips to the woodshed, two-parent households, and Sunday sermons.
Talks of gun bans and armed teachers only serve to normalize school shootings, as though this is now a part of American life that's here to stay.
How did we get here? How, if possible, can we get back to where we were?
Not included in Joe's article was something he said on his radio show, something he felt he might get in trouble for: Where are the black school shooters? He posited that maybe black kids were raised with a sense of God-fearing and faith.
I dunno. It's a complex problem, one that won't be solved by banning certain firearms, or arming school faculty. Perhaps a return of Fatherhood, something agnostic liberals have been trying to destroy since my childhood.

^^ first of all, I don't order fro Cheaper than platonium because of the outrageous price gouging they did after Sandy Hook, there's capitalism then there's taking extreme advantage. If you want a weapon like that save your sheckles and by an AR platform. A S&W M&P can be had for as little as $500, a few dollars more a Ruger. These are much better to accessorize, more options, don't jam and folks won't snicker at you at the range (least not for your gun.)
If you're looking for home defense just buy a shotgun and be done with it
