Wasn't it just last year that the seizures being missappropriated for personal use, came to light in St. Paul, MN?
St. Paul ain't got nothin on us. Were any of those cops corrupt enough to sell their brother a refrigerated trailer for $500?

He didn't do his brother a favor on that one. I doubt if the money went into his pocket either. That refrigerated trailer was used for a meth lab, so it essentially was worth nothing. It would have had to be decontaminated, and that would have cost more than he paid for it. Maybe instead of raising money for things the department needed, he should have gone to the county board and they could have given the department money they didn't have. They seem to do that regularly. I guess it's damned if you do and damned if you don't.

County and City employees and their families should NEVER be allowed to buy confiscated property seized by the County or the City. This is a major Conflict of Interest that may result in falsified arrest records for their own personal gain.

Is there any truth that Harig is allowed to use a motorcycle from Bergdale Harley-Davidson for free because he is the Sheriff? Good Law Enforcement ethics would say this is accepting gifts and not proper conduct.. :(

I wish I was treated so poorly by my brother.

I wonder how many of those metro cops sold their family discounted merchandise like that. :dunno:

It's not like the trailer is the only problems with the seizures. He's got a truck that he keeps at his house for Sheriff department employees to use, he's got a seized Harley that he claims to be purchasing from Freeborn County on a payment plan, a forfeited SUV, and a sedan that were all seized and were never auctioned off since he's using them.

Really? And do you suppose his brother had a hazmat team come and detox da truck?    What a load of bull. The same chemicals to make meth are hauled all over the country everyday in all kinds of vehicles. Now we have the citizens backing up and supporting forfeitures that are sold to family members because THIS one wasn't about $$$...ya right.

Here's the documents from the trailer deal. It looks like Kindler handled the paperwork for the deal.

Cheapest Reefer Trailor I found was $3,750. Pressure wash the inside and make some bucks..
This policy should be changed by the City and County because it makes them look like crooks..

This one is a 1991 Fruehauf Reefer Trailer
