In sundry of these storms the winds were so fierce and the seas so high, as they could not bear a knot of sail, but were forced to hull for divers days together. And in one of them, as they thus lay at hull in a mighty storm, a lusty young man called John Howland, coming upon some occasion above the gratings was, with a seele of the ship, thrown into the sea; but it pleased God that he caught hold of the topsail halyards which hung overboard and ran out at length. Yet he held his hold (though he was sundry fathoms under water) till he was hauled up by the same rope to the brim of the water, and then with boat hook and other means got into the ship again and his life saved. And though he was something ill with it, yet he lived many years after and became a profitable member both in church and commonwealth.

I just called this guy at his cell number

I told him I was thinking about doing an article for the AL Tribune and I asked him if he was interested in discussing his criminal history from Iowa for the story...

Go ahead write you story but we all know the tribune will not publish it without you providing accurate, verifiable contact information. Go ahead I would like to read it.

You folks who say I am drunk sorry your hero Repo is a bigger fool than I am a drunk.

I'm not sure why there is a fight over this.  If in fact Repo was writing an article, and a letter to the editor would suffice, he would be within his right, and I would think his obligation, to ask "Amazing Mark" for his comment.  It allows Repo to write an article without fear of libel.  Because suppose he wrote an article and it turned out "Amazing Mark" did not have a criminal record.  He could be sued for libel.  By asking him, did he wish to comment on his criminal past, and "Amazing Mark" chose not to, he would be free to write an article.  And allowing "Amazing Mark" to comment was his opportunity to set the record straight.

Write a book, an article, what have you, and any editor will make you prove line by line.

In this case, I have to go with Repo.  From what is written, it would have been the responsible thing to do.

The fight is not over him writing the article the fight is his sole purpose to call this guy was to harass him Repo will never do a story that will get published in the Albert Lea Tribune. I know and you know he will have to identify himself and that will never happen.

John was trying to take down the forward most sail (the smallest forward sail) in the storm and was was thrown overboard. He had caught the largest sails ropes and save himself using it to climb back onto the ship. Sounds like a survivor to me.

I'll send the Trib an article - if they use it or not will be their business - I will send it via overnight US Mail so I will have proof that they got it...

I'm not done with it - but I'll write it - under the pen name 'Bruce Wayne'...

they can publish it or not - but if they don't publish it within 10 days of my mailing I will post it here...

George - why are you so preoccupied with my identity...  :dunno:

do you want to beat me up...  :dunno:

I thought it was only against the law to impersonate a law enforcement officer of any type.  As far as anyone else is concerned Repo or anybody could say "I am a reporter.", or "I am a pharmacist." or better yet "I am a small business owner with no skills and no pride for my own life that I have to tell people I am descended from mayflower passengers and am distantly related to the Pres."  And unfortunately there isnt a law against it.
