Why can't they be funded by the taxpayers whom the sheriff's dept is pledged to protect??

Apparently you missed the thread where it was stated Harig spent his entire budget within the first two months of the year....  Obviously not the best money manager.

I don't think there's anything wrong with having a fund raiser for this kind of thing. I just wish they would be so frugal and conservative with all other aspects of Albert Lea's financial situations.

"...Is that better than no opinion at all? BS, you're just posting to bash someone who you disagree with. That's dumb.
Why not tell us what really bothers you and why?..." Minnow this thread.

What the hell do you do all the time?  Think before you cast stones kids.

Regardless of what everyone thinks of what new weapons they need and how they should be paid for, I've got a question for those of you that have experience with different handguns.
Most agencies are switching from the 1911 style Smith & Wessons and Colts to the more modern Glock.  I realize that Glocks are well known for being reliable, lightweight, and much easier to takedown.  But one thing that bothers me about the Glocks is that they have no conventional safety.  The company will boast about the different mechanisms in place to prevent accidental firing, but  either way, if the trigger is pulled by accident it will fire.
Also, on most other handguns, even if the safety is off, you can have a bullet chambered, and as long as the gun is "half-cocked", if you pull the trigger, it won't fire.  With the Glock, it has no hammer, so if there's a bullet in the chamber, its fully cocked.  Because of these reasons, if I had a permit to carry, I wouldn't want to carry a Glock.  Atleast with the other handguns, you can have a bullet in the chamber, and as long as the safety's on, or its half-cocked, you can feel secure if the trigger is pulled by accident, it won't fire.

Maybe someone can explain if I'm wrong about this.

I think the dept. seen what they needed to get done and found a way to get there. Did anyone read the letter to the editor in the paper today?  Sad they have to make pancakes to get what they need. It's no sercert that things are not getting any better, as I've said before and took some heat for, why can't they be better armed to protect us and them.

He didn't spend the entire 12 month budget in 11 months, that would just be poor planning. He didn't spend the entire budget in 10 months, that would be forgetting major parts of the budget. It wasn't 9 months, that would be poor money management. It wasn't 8 months, that would be total incompetence. It wasn't 7 months, that's only about half the year. It wasn't 6 months, that is half the year. It wasn't 5 months, that would be purposely spending money on other things unrelated to a budget of any kind. It wasn't 4 months, that would show all disregard for a budget. It wasn't 3 months, no manager in his right mind could get away with that! It was 2 months. And there IS no excuse for 2 months.

Yes that's rich Truth, especially since you're Repdan. That also makes you a hypocrite and liar in not only our eyes, but in the eyes of God. Have you no shame Dan?

Kid is right, 2 months is unacceptable, period.

Was Harig elected to fund raise or enforce laws?
How much of his time has been consumed by him & his dep't with fund raising when he should be enforcing the law?

Even if you think the ALEDC is a good idea, do you really want to put Sparks and Bishop in charge of all the economic development in Albert Lea?

If they really want to raise funds that badly, they should just plant drugs in homes and vehicles and then seize them for forfeiture.
If what they say about drugs running rampant(new jail), there should be plenty of assets to seize... ???
