Perhaps the staff around here should create a section on here for slandering people in the community & gossiping about nonsense. And perhaps if the people of Albert Lea would quit worrying about everyone else & what everyone else is doing and what they are getting away with, they could focus on the future & growing the town into a livable city but what fun would that be. Just wallow in your misery Albert Lea, and if you want to blame someone for the misery, look in the mirror & start there.

This wasn't a simple matter of Fjelsted getting away with something. He knowingly broke the law and because of it he caused his employee extreme hardship.
I'm good friends with Nordstrom (The bouncer) in fact I helped him find an attorney to get his money from Fjelsted. And I also saw a lot of the paperwork because Nordstrom had to use my phone to call his attorney because he couldn't afford a phone since he was injured and couldn't work at his regular job at Streaters
For nearly a year Nordstrom had to live with no income and had to depend on friends and family to help him out financially because Fjelsted wanted to save a few bucks and didn't care enough about the law to pay comp insurance.
A strip club owner with little regard for the law is not the person I would want representing the city.
(If anyone wants to know how the story ended. Fjelsteds dram shop insurance eventually paid the bouncer over $30K in lost wages after Fjelsted finally admitted that he was an employee.)

thanks for the additional info liberal. Was this every written about in the Trib? how is this guy still a public servant?!?!?!?!?!
so guest, did you expect Mr. Fjelsted to reply to your question by saying 'Why yes, we sure do run prostitution out of my bar!' I am not condoning Mr. Fjelsteds business practices but it bothers me that you baited him with that question & then posted it here refering to a differant topic all together (work comp issue)

Workmans Comp for a bar employee is high, however Gram shop covers a Bar against law suites that arise from customers getting injured in the bar or someone getting injured by someone who has been at the bar, or a drunk driving accident where someone is injured. Gram shop is very expensive as well.

For what it's worth, it's called "dram shop" because of the old english measurement "a dram" they used to call bars dram-shops in old England because you went there to buy liquor 1 dram at a time.
If minnow is right we might have "gram shop" insurance in the future though.
