I have a gut feeling, that when Paul Sparks is gone (whenever that happens to be), Bishop ain't far behind.
Personally, I think they should get rid of Bishop, put Sparks in her position to finish out his time (I should have added if they aren't going to get rid of him), and hire a new city manager while Sparks is still here to assist in training (I should have said "issue familiarization" not training).
Or just get rid of Bishop, if that position was vacant for a year, would the city notice a difference? I think not.

Lets Look at the picture and determine who in it is ready to get down to work. Either Paul Sparks Actually Knows How to run a shovel, and everyone else there looks like a hiway worker. All those Shovels and the only one that threw dirt was Pauls.
Do you suppose they all will come out to my ground breaking ceremony in 6 monthes?

Maddog- I heard that two councilors asked for the Mayor to resign.
Geo-what is your groundbreaking for? Where is it?
Hanna- The council was going to do just what you suggested earlier this year (or something similar) but Leland and some others (I believe mostly "Think Tank"ers) put a stop to it.

I can't believe some of the writers on this site. What a bunch of crap. Tony Trow isn't the only one that plays both sides against the middle. Keep it straight and keep it honest! Paul Sparks has been on the job about 26 years too long. He is a manipulative, vindictive tyrannt with "the little man syndrome". He has many faces; what you see may not necessarily be what is real. He knows how to butter his bread and has been able to call the shots for a long, long time. People want him gone but that's a tough nut to crack because he happens to be smart. He will stay in until he retires and that is how we get rid of him. Who knows, it may even be him ghost writing on this site and suggesting that we give him an early retirement with severance pay and send him on his merry way. He wants the money and benefits. Can't blame him there he is only human. Now on to little Ms Bishop. In way over her head. Not as bright as the former and easily controlled. She smiles at the appropriate times and knows whose egos to boost, namely , the former; problem is she has has not had much success for the 80 big ones she pockets a year. Her knowledge is not intuitive and she mainly gets the credit for others peoples originality. The problem with having too many secrets with too many people is that it is no longer a secret and it will be her eventual downfall. The BIG RON is a little psycho with his passive/aggressive personality. You know, we see the rage....then we hear the apologies. He knows he doesn't really have that respect he craves so he has to buy it. Why we have already paid for...attorneys that can provide the "proof" that he was right. If we respected him in the first place, no one would question him and we would not need to have the "proof" to bolster his truths. Being right, Ron, is not always the right thing to be. Like Dr. Phil so aptly puts it "How's that working for you?" Very few cities and counties have the kinds of problems we have in Albert Lea and Freeborn County. What is my point? Oh, I think the point is that we as citizens are unable to go to our elected officials with our concerns because in both Albert Lea and Freeborn County we have/would be stiffled...Rule 19. We did elect people that said they would work for us and go up against the establishment.....Jeff Fjelstad did exactly the opposite of what he campaigned for. I guess the only way to change anything is with a grassroots petition signing "Get rid of the Jerks" campaign.

Advocate-truly telling it like it is. Although, it has been projected to me that we may be in for even worse if the people that are pushing to get rid of Paul Sparks are more of a threat than he is.Should they get control, I have nothing to compare it to. And, I will be "labeled " as a whiner by others. I KNOW that Albert Lea NEEDS change. WE have been in a rut for way too many years. And we also have had to pay off too many people to get rid of them. It inferiotes me that people like Jeff Fjelstad lie to us to get on these councils, only to do a 180. There are plenty of qualified people out there.....get with it and do something. Me, I want Pam Bishops job. And believe me, I would put forth true intentions of bringing business to the Albert Lea Area. And better yet, bring in results. Jean, if you are reading this, call me. You know who I am.

What was it that Fjelsted said when he ran for election? Wasen't it something like " 6 months after I am elected Sparks will be gone or I will resign" Hmmm, time to go Jeff.
Guess He figured that He was talking to His bar flys and We would all be like them and forget the next day.

Well, unless you look like Pam Anderson I don't think you'll get the job. When she was hired barely out of college (barely legal) LOL with little experience I scratched my head in puzzlement until I saw her and thought....Oh..I see...they think a pretty girl will turn the trick and even if it doesn't, it's good eye candy for Albert Lea.
I mean $80,000 grand for HER experience? Are you kidding?
Look, if Sparks and Biship could get it any better they would. Both of these people are very lucky to make the income that they do and I know that they know it...or they wouldn't threaten to fight to hang on to the free money and power ride. Sparks has already hinted he'd sue....he'd ruin em!

I agree with old timer. Minnow, you must have far different taste in women than Old timer and myself. I have sat across a small table from Bishop, she did not get her job for her looks, at least not in my book. I also agree with others that Sparks should go. My fear is what we have after he is gone though. If it means the think tank people come by some power because of it, just be very leary of who you vote for in the future and who is supporting them. The think tank people dont support anyone, they buy them, plain and simple. Everyone knows them and what they stand for, themselves! They all know that they have no chance of getting elected to public office, so the next step is to buy people to do it for them.
As far as Fjelsted is concerned, he can take his sorry @ss out of town with his buddy Sparks. Shaker, you are right, that was his campaign slogan. He is just another lying, manipulating piece of $hit that calls themselves public servants in Albert Lea and Freeborn County.
Why is it that other towns and counties seem to have their best and brightest in public office, while Albert Lea and Freeborn County seem to have made it a habbit to elect the dumbest and the most morally corrupt? Fjelsted has actually told Eaton that she should resign because he thinks she supports the think tank and getting rid of Sparks. The exact thing he promised to himself, but just another lie by a piece of $hit Albert Lea politician.
Vote em all out of office and start all over, especially the four idiots on the county board, along with Fjelsted, he fits in just fine with this group. None of them are smart enough to do the job they are asked, none have the courage to fight the people that are in the think tank on other matters concerning all of us.
So get rid of Paul Sparks, most of the county board and lying Fjelsted, then lock all those in the think tank out of the process, if they support someone for office, reject that person, they have been bought and paid for. Elect people who dont seek the power or the lime light, whos only purpose is to give the power back to the people. Unlike every name you see on the think tank, whos only purpose is to keep everyone else out, and themselves still firmly in control.
