I remember when I first learned of Pams employment status with JOBS, I was shocked at how someone with as little experience as she'd had, could land that job at such a young age...then I saw her picture...she's a looker to be sure. Probably the best eye candy those old boys could hope for...
Her husband should have gone to Mason City. Mason City's achieved what Albert Lea hasn't. It's become the regional shopping hub for its area.
Is it wrong for her better half to relocate a retail business? Probably not. But it does expose how the powers that be seem to behave in this town. "Do as we say...not as we do".

Minnow, I agree. It just seems a lot like the politician that tells you vouchers to send your child to a private school is wrong, that we have to support the public schools. But then you find out he sends his kids to private schools. Or the politician that tells you we are all better off putting our money into social security and not the stock market. But then you find out he doesnt pay into social security, that politicians invest their own money. I just do not understand how we can keep this woman in this job, this same woman who has to try to sell this community but has sold out and headed to Iowa herself, the same thing she has to try to get other companies not to do. She has lost what little credibility she had left. Like I said, and I promise you this, until she is gone from that job, I will do my very best to see to it that any company that the city or county talks to about locating here, knows that the person sitting across the table from them ( Pam Bishop) is a fake and a liar. That they should go to Iowa, just like Pam Bishop from Jobs Inc. did.

I have to agree here, Pam does not even remotely belong in the position that she is in. Odds are though, that the City government will keep her right where she is; after all, isn't that AL's track record for the past 20 years or so?
If it wasn't illegal, I would almost start up a betting pool to see how much longer Pam stays in her current position before she is removed by the City. (I said removed, not quit)
This is a shining example of why AL has such a hard time succeeding, people like Pam that sell the public a bogus bill of sale while her and her husband jump ship. I am not saying that they shouldn't be allowed to move their business anywhere in the world that they want, just that in Pam's position, it was not only a bad move, it was a slap in the face to AL and its residents.

Its a slap in the face of the people wanting to locate a business here. She has to shoot straight with these people, be honest, be someone they can trust. She cannot be any of these things, in my opinion, if her husband moves a business to Iowa. By sitting at the table with these people and telling them they should locate their business here, she is starting off the relationship on a lie. I have been in sales before, if your clients trust you, and can believe in you, you are half way to a sell. Most times they buy the seller, not the goods. I dont know how many times I have seen people pay more money than they would have to, just because they made a connection with the seller. In my opinion, if they let her continue in her job, we are being dishonest, and starting out a relationship on the wrong foot right from the start.
How do you think some of these people would feel to find out after they moved here that the person that sold them on the idea, had moved out of town so their company could make a better profit? I agree Ole1 and Minnow, they have every right to move to Iowa. But the fact that she is in the position she is in, tells me that by doing so, she should not be the one trying to get companies to relocate here. To me its a lot like a guy trying to sell you his car, telling you how nice it is, how well it runs, but knowing damn well it wont make it to the end of the block. It would be like having Mal Prinzing be the campaign manager for Disgrace Schwab. In my opinion, this is a big problem for Albert Lea, starting out our relationships with people that might want to do business here with a lie. The lie being that Pam Bishop believes they can make it here, by moving their business to Iowa she has shown us all that she does not believe that at all. She needs to go now more than ever before.

Pam Bishop is a disgrace to this city,it is obvious that she has neither the skills or the ability to the job she is paid to do. This has to really look good to a person looking to locate a business in A.L. to see Pam and her Husband locate across the border. This speaks volumes about Her confidence in this City, I guess it would be like going to the ford garage to buy a car and seeing the owner of the place driveing a chev. Some things just speak for themselves---It is past time for the city of A.L. to drop her like a bad habit!!!!

Lets start with Pam. The little fish and move on to the bigger ones after that. Seriously, folks it is up to us. It is a fact that our paper no pull for those of us who want to move forward. The corruption has eroded our community. Clean up the lakes??? Heck, clean up the hyprocrisy that labels itself as our local leaders.

Well said Rosebudinal. Clean up the place by getting rid of some of the people that have had their job way to long without any success, and people wont be so negative. In any other business, in any other town, someone with the job performance like Pam Bishop would have been gone long ago. But not in Albert Lea, not with the old guard all looking out for each other. Will they ever figure out that the reason we are no better off today than we were years ago is that we just dont seem to have the balls to get rid of someone when they arent getting the job done. Look at Paul Sparks, the town is in no better shape today than the day he started, but still the people that are responsible for him having the job dont have the guts to say, thanks Paul for everything you have done for us, but we think its time to head in a different direction. The leaders of this town are a total joke, look around you in other towns and counties. Do you see the crap that goes on here happening other places? I dont, only in Albert Lea. Wake up, get rid of Bishop before we lose more companies to Iowa.
