So let me get this right, Pam Bishop from jobs inc., you know, the person that is supposed to try to get new business to come to our community, has relocated a furniture business she has with her husband Kevin, to Norhtwood Iowa? Come on folks, its time to wake up and get rid of this woman. I mean come on, this is the woman that has to sit down with companies that might be looking to expand in our area and try to convince them to locate here, or even stay here, and all the while she has moved out of state, just over the border. Maybe for lower taxes? When does this $hit end? How can we have this person representing us, asking other companies to do what she and her company are not willing to do herself, and that is stay or relocate here?
Here is what Pam Bishop had to say about this very thing happening in our community.

Pam Bishop with the Albert Lea Economic Development Authority says the bill would help keep businesses in her community. She says many have moved across the border to Iowa, in search of lower taxes.
"Our concern is keeping them here. We're always at a threat of them exploring new opportunities. Because of our border location, we are at a higher threat than those in the metropolitan area," Bishop says.
I might also add that the Bishops were not at all happy that this info has gotten out, boy, I wonder why?
Could this be part of our problem with selling our community? Seems to me that to be a successful salesman you would have to totally believe in your product, in this case, Bishops product is Albert Lea. I don’t know about you, but the fact that she took her business across the border tells me that she has no confidence at all in what she is trying to sell others. I still say that our package that we offer is pretty good, but our sales people are lacking big time.
How is it that the powers that be can let this woman continue to represent us in trying to get companies to locate here, when she has packed up here own business and left town?
I just want to say that I love living here, the people are great. But, I have never seen a collection of more unqualified people in one town that have all the power. As far as our politicians and people like Pam Bishop and Jobs Inc. go though, this is a living hell. I have never seen a city or county get so screwed over by the people that are supposed to work for them. Like I said, I love it here, but this bull$hit that goes on here is making it a really undesirable place to live. Pam Bishop and her bull$hit just made it that much more undesirable. Instead of everyone else leaving, our children getting out of school and never coming back, why don’t we just get rid of some of the people that are screwing things up for us? I have a few names to get us started.
Berhends, Mathiason, Mullenbach, Springborg, Gabrialson, Sparks, and now, our very own Pam Bishop. I would say that is a good start.

Right on, hoosier. But you left out a couple people I can think of: Randy Erdman, Tony Trow, Dylan Belden, Harley Miller. 
Perhaps Pam is just collecting a check from Albert Lea, but really works for the Northwood Business Development Center. She semms to be getting that job done.
One thing, though, Kevin's pretty protective. If he finds this posting out, he's going to be making some calls. Just ask Hanna, and Kevin's a in your face kinda guy, but don't let him fool you. Remember, he ran the fishwrap before Moser, so you can rank him right up there with Belden.

I'm not sure where they got it, but my parents have a magnet on their refrigerator in the shape of Minnesota, featuring the Greater Jobs logo. It reads, "Albert Lea - WHERE THE JOBS ARE."
I can't imagine keeping a straight face while designing something like that.

Sorry George, but you are incorrect here. Employees can live anywhere they wish without any sort of penalty.

Jim, yes it did come from MPR.
Maddog, LOL, if you hadnt noticed I am kind of an in your face kind of guy also, I would love for either one of the Bishops to give me a call and give me hell for posting this. Lets just say I would jump right back on their a$$. Truely, people like Pam Bishop is what is destroying this community. It is her number one job to attract new business and to keep old ones here. I ask again, how can she be effective at doing that job if she and her husband have already jumped ship? I will personally see to it that in the future any and all companies talking to Albert Lea about locating here will hear that the person trying to get them to move here has relocated her business in Iowa, to avoid higher taxes.
This would be a good story for O'Reilly, but even after all the bull$hit he has seen and reported on, I bet if he came and looked into our government here in AL and Freeborn County he would be amazed at how it has been able to continue like this for so long.
