Liberal Bias?  At Barnes & Noble?  I'm SHOCKED--SHOCKED, I SAY!  :D   (sarcasm)
Do you understand the meaning of sarcasm?  That statement in itself is sarcasm--I know you understand.
Quote
sar·casm    ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (särkzm)
n.
A cutting, often ironic remark intended to wound.
A form of wit that is marked by the use of sarcastic language and is intended to make its victim the butt of contempt or ridicule.
The use of sarcasm. See Synonyms at wit1.

n : witty language used to convey insults or scorn; "he used sarcasm to upset his opponent"; "irony is wasted on the stupid" [syn: irony, satire, caustic remark]
Perhaps I should have put "satire, irony, or caustic remarks "in the quotes after the smiley face.

The smiley face was put there to convey humor--something liberals sometimes are "challenged" with. (that was sarcasm)  I guess I'll have to slow my humor down a bit when dealing with liberals! :D (sarcasm)  just by way of explanation, that was sarcastic humor :D )

Obviously it was sarcasm. And I know you are smart enough to understand that if you make a sarcastic remark that you are shocked by hearing about liberal bias at B & N then it would obviously mean that you are not really shocked by hearing about it. Which makes you a bit of a wacko for believing that there is any liberal bias at Barnes and Noble.

What other political agendas do you suspect them of pushing on people? How far up into the coporation do you suspect this liberal bias goes? It must go all the way to the top don't you think? Otherwise, someone would get suspicious that sales were always down for conservative books.  And if this bias does go all the way to the top then you really have to wonder why they even bother to buy the books written by the conservative authors in the first place if they are just going to send them to their stores to put in inconspious places ???

I wonder how conservative books ever make it on their best sellers list with all that liberal bias.

You really like that "wacko" word don't you.  How many times do I have that it is not a left-conspiracy?  It was interesting in that store only, no more, no less.  The only one trying to take this issue all the way to the top of the flagpole is you.

Adam--you just have to learn that liberals are humor-deprived.  :D (there's that sarcasm word again) They don't like people making fun of goofy programs, questionable "investments" (euphemism for "taxes"), inter-generational Ponzi schemes, blatant pandering to "special interest groups" (teachers unions, lawyers, organized labor), Hollywood Half-wit "celebrities" (instant experts becaused they played one on TV), hypocritical statements (taking millions of dollars from George Soros and the Hollywood elite, after campaigning for "campaign finance reform" to eliminate "special interests")--all the while claiming to be "for the little guy".

Liberals have no sense of history--like people with Alzheimers, every day is a brand new day!  They think History started on their birthday!  No concept on what has worked or failed before--and they hate being reminded of it.  Liberals rarely have an articulated policy--one they can actually state WHAT they are for (look at Mr. Kerry) or a policy they will adhere to--they view policies, promises, and programs as something transitory  ("The President (Clinton) has kept all the promises he intended to keep"--White House spokesman Geo. Stephanapoulis).  Flitting from "program" to "policy" to "investment"--liberals could be the poster boys for Attention Deficit Disorder--fixated on the minute, no long-term committment.  No wonder Mr. Kerry can't understand people labeling him as a "flip-flopper".

Liberals like to portray Conservatives as dour, menacing reactionaries--while thinking of themselves as insouciant, irreverent, "new thinkers".  We think of liberals as "unthinking moonbeams"--they view us as "mean".  I don't know why they think that Conservatives are incapable of humor--they must know of the huge number of websites devoted to poking fun at liberal foibles!  :D  Liberals like to "make things better"--with YOUR money.  Conservatives don't mind them doing it--as long as they leave us alone.  Unfortunately, WE--the American people--are the TARGETS of liberals.

Adam--you brought up a good observation about placement of books in a bookstore you frequented--and wondered about possible bias.  You were scourged for your efforts.  What should you learn from this?

A.  Liberals are incapable of acknowledging bias.
B.  Only liberals can set an agenda--conservatives need not apply.
C.  Liberals don't understand sarcasm, or any humor that doesn't have conservatives as the butt of the joke.

Like all of the books that have ever been devoted to understanding the differences between the sexes--there aren't enough words in the English language to create a true understanding--I guess we'll just have to get along.  Brings to mind a quote--"The basis of all humor is the misfortune of others"--unknown ???

Somthing you guys have not talked about is such as in grocery stores different companys pay for "prime real estate". meaning they pay to have they're product put in a preferrable place so as the customer might see it and be more apt to buy that product. Could this be another option?

According to the manager at THAT B&N, the publishers pay for shelf space also.  However she could not answer when I asked where in the store they purchased it.  On discount racks, clearance shelves, new realeases, category shelves, etc.  Assuming a publisher paid for shelf space, then variations on how much space is dedicated to books from that publisher should be attributed to popularity.  It would be interesting to do some more research.

I think I am getting The Radioactive Boy Scout for Father's Day.  Check it out!  It is a true story of boy genius.
