The video is a thermal image taken from the nose camera of an apache gunship as it engages 3-4 soft targets.

The damage this gun inflicts on these people is incredible.

I don't understand why that pilot told the gunner to shoot the wounded iraqii as he was crawling away. What purpose did it serve to kill him? He was already out of the war. It's not like they were going to patch him up and send him back out after he was hit by a 30mm chaingun.

This video has been on the net for a while now. Do you know when and where this footage was suppose to have taken place? Pretty gruesome.

From what I've been told .. they want to kill not maim so they are unable to talk.

The video has been out for a long time--the action occured in Dec. 2003.  Here is more information from Snopes.com http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/apache.asp

As Snopes says--the crewmen had a clearer picture and ground intelligence that the men were handling weapons.  There were no ground forces in the area.

While it may seem like overkill--as Snopes points out, the .30mm is the smallest weapon the Apache has on board--it is a tank killer.  They could have used grenades or a Hellfire missile (at considerably more cost).  While the chaingun was effective, its rate of fire is only 625 rounds per minute--about the same as the M-60 machine guns mounted in the doors of the old Hueys--and infinitely less than the 3,000 rounds a minute EACH of the twin 7.62 miniguns of the Cobra.

Unlike a foot soldier that aims his weapon directly at an enemy and pulls the trigger--airmen and naval forces rarely see the enemy--or the results.  Any way you take them out--the result is the same--this just makes it "personal".

I am curious how many of the forum members have been in the fog of war or even in the military.

I was a field artillery fire direction controller, recon, and armored personnel carrier driver in the National Guard 1987 to 1995.  Excellent experience.  I am encouraging my fifteen year old son to enlist in the Navy as an engineer.

I was an MP with the 101st Airborne Division from 1983-1986.
Believe it or not here's a picture of me as a 20 year old republican.  The picture was on the cover of Soldiers magazine in Feb of 86, it was taken in Dover when I was in charge of one of the casket teams from the Arrow Air crash that killed 248 soldiers from the 101st

The teacher that ran the video clip at school in front of children should be fired! What was he thinking?! I feel really bad for the kids that had to witness such a horrifying thing, and I would think the parents would be very hostile about now! I would be if some teacher decided it was best for my child to watch one of our soldiers have his head sawed off.

I can't even begin to tell you how angry I am about this.
