He probably freaked because he was Bangeladeshi and hates the English.  Yes I am torn in this election.  I wish that Bush wanted the international minimum wage, because that is the only fair way to compete.  Require American companies to pay even half the minimum required in the country, and it won't be so profitable for them to move off-shore.  Bush might give immunity to millions of illegals, and I am very much against that.  But, I do like how Bush is handling a lot of other things, so I agree, I wish there were more choices.

You are precisely the voter who is going to force Bushes regime change. Not because you'll vote for Kerry...but that you won't vote for Bush.

I've been shocked at C-span as of late. Most callers seems vehemently against Bush like I've never seen before. Bush is definately all done dancing it seems...

"Stopping big corporations from taking American jobs overseas" makes for interesting campaign rhetoric, but is hardly credible domestic policy.  Less rhetoric--more specifics needed.

Here are two of his ideas.
Quote

John Kerry believes that U.S. Federal contracts where possible should be performed by American workers.  He will direct his Cabinet Secretaries to look at procurement policies and assure wherever possible Federal contracts are not being outsourced overseas.

Sounds good to me, why would we award a govt. contract to a company that outsources offshore.

Quote

The Federal Trade Commission enforces standards to ensure commercial compliance with “Made in USA” labeling.  Kerry believes a “consumer’s right to know” should also apply the same principles of disclosure to telephone- and Internet- mediated customer service transactions.

This alone would help with call centers.  I'd personally only do business with companies that have American call centers if I could find out who they are.

You wouldn't have need more specifics if you'd have done just a little reading about John Kerry before you decided to vote for the republican candidate. :p

A good start--but pitifully small when compared to the total RETAIL trade by overseas manufacturers.  My guess is that Wal-Mart ALONE buys MUCH MORE from overseas than the Federal Government--probably true for ANY of the foreign car companies--Honda, Toyota, Daimler-Benz, Volkswagen, etc.

The "Unintended Consequences" (and there always are) of this legislation is that this will drive Federal Procurement into the hands of large corporations--all liberals out there shout HALLIBURTON! and "SPECIALINTERESTS!" :D

Could THIS be the same John Kerry (there are so MANY of them!) :D  that insisted that France and other foreign governments get contracts for rebuilding Iraq--with U.S. taxpayers dollars?

You are correct--I would expect the FTC to enforce the law--and it is a good law--giving consumers accurate information so they can make their own choices.  I, too, wouldn't deal with a foreign call center if given the choice.

Is Kerry going to claim authorship of the law?  Did he vote FOR it (and then REGRET it), or AGAINST it, but was REALLY FOR IT--like so many other issues? :D

I didn't mention the Republican candidate, by name or party afiliation.  Read about John Kerry?  Yes, I'm doing my best to get up to speed--I'm sure this will be a big issue for the next couple of hundred days! :D

If we are going to carry on political debates, the Administrator is going to HAVE to come up with some sarcasm smilies! :D

As voters we all know that whomever gets in will then forget about those of us who voted. A very well known fact :p

Liberal, did you know that the man Bush hired to keep companies from laying off American workers and moving overseas, is a business man himself? Yes, shortly after he took the job at the Whitehouse, he fired all his employees and opened a 3 million dollar factory outside the U.S. This is the Bush Whitehouse, say one thing, do another.
Then, when peoples unemployment benifits run out, because they have been out of work for so long, Bush takes credit for them not fileing for benifits any longer, like he has created jobs for them. They dont have jobs, they just arent getting unemployment any more.

By the people, for the people!  Under Bush, this has changed to, "By the powerful, for my buddies and contributers.

Vote Nader

Hoosier--You are correct on the individual, but wrong on the specifics.

The Bush Administration was going to create a "Job Czar"--where none was mandated by Congress, and with no defined duties, staff, etc.  Purely a PR issue.--at taxpayer expense.

The individual nominated had a business in Nebraska.  He never took office, he didn't fire all of his employees, but he did open up a factory in China.  His nomination was withdrawn--I'd be surprised if the Bush Administration tried to create this worthless, figurehead position again.

Jim, sorry I didnt get all the facts straight, but you didnt either. He did layoff all his employees in the U.S. You may be right about his not taking office. My point was in pointing out the kind of people Bush wants to appoint to posts, or have come in to discuss business. By the way, the guy only had 75 employees that he layed off, but this guy had Bush's backing to help keep other business from doing what he did.
