I believe the airport manager is not a governement employee, he is a private individual with a contract for services provided, that is why he did not get a raise.  Ask him about the other goings on at the airport that he makes money off of.  Money he makes using OUR airport that we pay for.

you are correct on this, however, his annual contract has not been raised in years.

This hassle you have with me has nothing to do with Jim.  Guest, why don't you register, that way you can PM me, and the rest of the members won't have to put up with this.

sounds like the airport manager is not a good negotiator when it comes to his contract.

In doing a comparative study of surrounding counties and how much property taxes have been raised, you can see just how well our current county board has towed the line on spending.

Our current board took over in Jan. 01 with a tax levy already set by the previous board of $7,839,047.

From the property tax levy 2001-2004 here is the approximate percentages tax levies have gone up:

Faribault      13.95%
Mower         19.94%
Rice            18%
Steele         38.35%
Waseca       19.35%

And the winner is.....

Freeborn      55.24%

When someone refers to our county commissioners as BIG spenders, they're not kidding.

Freeborn just got off the starting block in this race. Taxes haven't even really begun to spike like they will for the nest count em 20 years!

you must compare apples to apples here.  What is the actual tax on similar priced homes, not just the increase.  Maybe Freeborn counties taxes were much lower than the others to begin with
