If you use the resources more you should pay more. If you choose to live in a location you have to drive more to get places that is your choice and you should have to pay accordingly.

Ah, no. Its called free choice.
You believe in capitalism. People paying their own way. So, why should people who live in rural areas, or people who drive more than others, not be required to pay more for the roads they use?

Um no. If the "Gas Tax" goes away, and you use a mileage tax, then you are more proportionally paying for what you use.
Now, if you have an EV you are paying no "gas tax" to use the roads. If you have a high efficiency vehicle and drive the same miles and someone who does not have as high an efficiency vehicle you are paying more to use the same.

Looked to me like the whole point of this topic was to discuss alternative so the tax.
