^^^288K, after 5.5 years, hopefully it'll continue. We still have only a 62% partisipation rate and with 1st quarter GDP of negative 2.9... We'll see I guess. :(

Bush nearly destroyed this country..

The DOW was at record highs during W's tenure too, and we all know he is still in the top 5 of worse presidents too.
The level of the DOW doesn't make a president a good or bad one.

A record 92,000,000+ Americans do not have a job and are not even looking for one.  And a record 47,000,000+ people on food stamps.

Guess you conveniently forgot that statistic just like the POTUS did when he conducted his press conference yesterday.

Good job!

Too bad the economic strength of America is concentrated with so few of us. 95% of income gains since 2009 have gone to the top 1%.
As far as the unemployed goes. In 2007 there were almost 7 unemployed people for every available job. Right now there are almost 3 unemployed for every available job. So I guess that's a bit of progress. And since the unemployed far outnumber the jobs, are so many people really just lazy slobs who don't want to work?

The information is about 10 minutes into her speech. I shared this link with a couple of people in here yesterday because of the bizarre beginning of her speech. Just listen to the first few minutes of her talk before skipping to 10 minutes. Does the managing director of the IMF really believe in Numerology??! So strange lol.

I hope you and your family are having a great holiday weekend SB. I'm thinking of moving to Antarctica to escape all these freakin skeeters.

With 99 weeks of unemployment there's probably lots of lazy slobs.

And if the unemployment benefits time was shorter? There would still be too many unemployed for the amount of jobs available. I'm not sure if the BLS counted just people currently on unemployment, or if they also counted the people who are no longer on unemployment but not working. If they only counted the people currently on unemployment, then that means there are even more people for each available job.
I'm assuming since 95% of the income gains since 2009 have gone to the top 1%, that's probably a big reason so many people are getting food stamps? And how quickly are prices for everything rising? The taste of beef is just a fond memory for some of us!! When I go to the grocery store I spend a few minutes staring longingly at the beef section! I've even had a few dreams about big juicy steaks  :(   Oh well, chicken is healthier anyway lol.

^^^and as more people switch to chicken, the price for it will rise.

I'm thinking of having a few bunnies in the backyard, the city says I can only have "pets" I predict Fluffy will die of self inflicted injuries. :D
