Maybe if all these Christians we find ourselves waist-deep in around here lived more according to Christ's teachings, that whole "least of my brethren" part, with regards to the “poor, weak, sick, wronged, cheated, oppressed, disenfranchised and exploited” people in our midst, they wouldn't need some government "rescue."

Maybe you should put down the Ayn Rand, and read some Nietzsche, who said, "In truth, there was only one Christian and he died on the cross."

Good to see Nietzche used as reference, and not the latest zealot gurus misleading the flock for a buck.

Where is the almighty private sector, our savior for everything from hangnails to heaven? We have witches like Marissa Mayer claiming God is first in her life. Apparently God comes first for her, while her overseas sweatshop slaves come last.

And then Breeze speaks of liberal hypocrisy.

Hmmm, where is this understanding that the founding of this country is based on the socialistic teachings of the church?

Charity is a personal christian act, and it fails to be a christian act when it is forced upon others through legislation and enforced by the treat of the barrel.

I have an idea! Why dont the 50% that pay NO taxes start paying their fair share. Then we all would be happy or upset that way you please everyone at once.

Straw man argue much? At what point in any of the above was mandatory charity mentioned?

Mandatory charity? I believe that's called taxes.

Can't do that, it would cost votes, on both sides of the aisle.

Seperation of church & state----Marissa Mayer gives "personal" charities, laying claim to christianity. Then uses the "state" to enrich herself thru immoral deeds.

Also charity is not a christian invention.
