The bike lanes aren't going to make a damn bit of difference as long as the cyclists disobey the laws... I've seen more often than not bikes leaving the lanes to cross the road where ever they please, and NONE have stopped at the stop signs!  It's the law that a cyclist is to dismount their bike and WALK it across an intersection!

There is no law that says I have to dismount my bike to cross an intersection. I think that might have been one of Mike the Talking Bike's suggestion when I was in grade school, but there is no law that says we have to walk our bike across any intersection. Last I heard a bike is just like any other vehicle on the road and the same laws apply.
