Some people just can't get their heads around "NO TRAVEL ADVISED," I guess.  :p

Was back home for a Christmas party Friday night left early Saturday morning driving my rear wheel drive pickup..You feel the back end break loose and adjust speed accordingly on these rear wheel vehicles, something you don't notice as rapidly on front or four wheel autos and trucks, giving the driver more confidence to drive faster often suffering the consequences...

One reason you see so many SUVs in the ditch is because people often mistakenly assume that since they have all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive they can drive like normal during anything.  I have an SUV and my philosophy is that the all wheel drive and 4 wheel drive is for after I go in the ditch.  Since I want to avoid that,  I drive with care and try to anticipate bad spots in the road.  I would rather go slow and steady to win the race than end up in the ditch and possibly never get where I had planned.

You're 100% right about the SUV false sense of invincibility factor.  I'd also add that there are increased numbers of new citizens and "visitors" to our state that are.... shall I say inexperienced in winter driving.

When I went to WSU, the first snowfall of the season was pure hilarity. Saudi fender benders everywhere.
