Why do kids go to school...To learn stuff so they can go to college?
Why do they go to college...so they can earn a degree and get a good job?
And why do they need a good job...so they can earn good money and support their life?
OK listen carefully to what I'm about to say. College teaches you to work for somebody else. Working for other people never allows one to become wealthy. That only enables the person you work for to become wealthy. See how it works.
I didn't start making real money until I figured that out. Now I make more than a doctor and I'm just a dumb pot head, right?...LOL.

Clovis I wasn't suggeting beatings or yelling. That seems to be the reactionary nature of this forum. If I post a simple idea about the way kids were handled when I was younger, you know back before school shootings, then I am accussed of being a child abuser and so on.
It's not at either extreme, it's in the middle some where and it's not the same for every child. With that said, some real problem kids, whose parents aren't parents at all, need to be treated with more direct discipline. I do not believe in the suspension and send them away to the office crap. When a student screws up make it known, not humiliation, but make it known. (that does not mean showing off their bad grades) I'm talking about stopping bad behavior.
My grandfather once said, "you should not have to spank a child by age five. By that time they should be able to figure out, by your voice, when they have really screwed up. And then your words should be enough."
BTW his kids are all EXTREMELY productive and well adjusted grown ups. HHHMM coincidence......I think not.
