I think that we should have Franken come and do a study for $25,000 on electric carp barriers, or library buildings, or local sales taxes.  Have him come and present his findings at the Community Theatre, I would pay to listen to it, and probably be willing to buy a copy of the report.  I'm sure that his conclusions and recommendations would be great fun.  :D

It WOULD be appropriate--wasn't Franken one of the players on the recurring SNL skit, where business owners of a dying retail mall got together in the barbershop to discuss the passing of the latest business?  At the end, the guy getting his hair cut, always had no money, so asked the barber to "put it on the tab". :D

MrTarzan, Al Franken is from here but I don't believe he claims us
His lack of claiming anything to do with AL reminds me of the ABBA song, "One of us"

ABBA?, I liked that band when I was about 10 years old and I was to embarrased to admit it to anyone.

You don't still have a disco ball or a white disco suit do you? :D

You accuse hoosier of broad brush rhetoric but you do the same thing.  You're just trying to convince people that you are supplying facts by using the same example over and over and over again "midnight basketball" How many times do you think you've brought up that obscure program? Do you realize how few people even realize what it is?  Why not try something original with your liberal bashing like try not to bring up the words, "midnight basketball" ever again?

Franken will be off the air real quick.

Why?  Midnight basket ball is the perfect example.  Liberal ideology on AM daytime talk radio doesn't fly here in the U.S.  Not well enough to support a national radio show.  AM is the hotbed of the silent majority and that majority is largely conservative.  Franken will never rival Rush the majority of AM talk show listeners don't like the leftist wacko dogma.  PERIOD.

I'm not ashamed of MB (is that OK?)--but liberals certainly are (or should be).  I can see why they would like to (in their parlance) "move on".

What other liberal foibles are also off limits?  A crucifix in a jar of urine--from the National Endowment for the Arts?

How about building high rise housing projects for the poor, then, after they've been trashed in only a few years, ordering them demolished, and the occupants "mainstreamed" into tract housing?

Robert Byrd's Coast Guard station in West Virginia (lot of water there!)--or any of the other projects the "King of Pork" brings to his state at our expense?

How about jokes about Kennedy drinking, philandering, or driving record?  Those should be OK, they've become a national cliche.

Clinton's contretemps are also a cliche--you can't embarrass the man--but the sheer NUMBER of his problems are cause for laughter--and dismay.  How about his last-minute pardons?

How about James Traficant?  The former sitting Congressman is in prison for corruption.

Are discredited liberal programs OK to make fun of?  How about NUCLEAR FREEZE.  NUCLEAR BUILD-DOWN.  Unilateral disarmament.  Nuclear Winter.  Global Cooling--which quickly became global warming?  How about seemingly innocuous screw-ups--like Clinton ordering the retirement of A-6 Intruders--ground attack fighters that were also the major TANKER aircraft off American aircraft carriers.  A loaded Navy aircraft can't take off with full fuel and full weapons, so they have to hit a tanker.  The E-6 had a "give away--take away ratio of 7--it could fuel 7 aircraft while on station--the SA-3 Viking can only do 2 1/2--so the Navy can't put up a full complement of loaded aircraft from carriers, according to author Tom Clancy.  The order, again according to Clancy, came direct from the White House--underscoring his "disdain" for the military.

How about Jocelyn Elders?  Can we make fun of her?  Janet Reno--of Waco and Ruby Ridge Fame? Is Hilary fair game--there is so much material there.

It's hard to know what liberals will be embarrassed about next--but if you want to be part of the crowd that embraces Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Alec Baldwin, Barbra Streisand, Phil Donohue, Ed Asner, Jayson Blair, Katie Couric, Ted Kennedy, Diane Feinstein, Gray Davis, Jane Fonda, Molly Ivins, Spike Lee, Rosie O'Donnel, Carol  Mosely-Braun, Charles Rangel, John Major, Robert Blake, and every otherr leftie whacko out there--I'm sure there is an (un-named) party for YOU!

You want to compare illogical, failed government programs?  BRING IT ON!

ABBA--I didn't realize that liberals were the gatekeepers as to what music may or may not be played or enjoyed--I thought liberals only controlled the "drop-off-to-sleep music" that nobody wants to hear, so they play it on government-sponsored National Public Radio.   :D

I can see why liberals wouldn't like ABBA--at one time, they were the largest financial export from Sweden--topping SAAB and VOLVO.  They are number 3 on the world-wide sales of records and albums, behind only Elvis and the Beatles.  They spoke little or no English, but had the foresight and moxie to record in English--because that's where the sales are.  They recorded in 5 languages--Swedish, English, French, German, and Spanish (you would think liberals would like that!) :D   Maybe the reason liberals don't like them is that they proved the fact that overtaxation doesn't work--despite working hard, bringing money into Sweden, they (like the Beatles), got tired of confiscatory taxes--90% in Sweden.  No wonder liberals don't like them! :D

Truth,
I'm sure the conservatives chests just swell with pride knowing they have people like you on their side.

Can you give me an example of leftist wacko dogma?  It's an awful lot of big words and I wonder if you know what it means or if you're just repeating something Rush or Ann said ???

Jim,
I never said I didn't like ABBA I just thought it's something that's best kept to ones self.

That was a Freeborn County Fair Board - MCLU lawsuit over free speech and the county lost that one too. :D

Like I said in the previous post I could care less if you use Midnight basketball as an example because most people don't know what it is.(in all honesty I have no clue as to what it is)

And I'm not saying you can't bring up Midnight Basketball or anything else that Rush has taught you about.  I just think that you lose readers when you go on and on with the same old rhetoric.

"Piss Christ" was the name--there were actually two of them, one from the NEA, one locally.  I had forgotten about the local one.  At least the local one didn't get "grant money" for his "art".

Midnight Basketball--I'm amazed you haven't heard of it--or bothered to research it in Google--those words come up with 411,000 responses.  It was a social program Clinton instituted in 1993--give money to have kids play basketball during the midnight hours "instead of getting into trouble".  It became a euphemism and icon for wasted money and misdirected liberal programs--WHY NOT HAVE THE KIDS AT HOME INSTEAD OF ROAMING THE STREETS AT THAT HOUR?  WHY HAVE PRE-TEENS AND TEENS ON THE STREETS?  I've never heard Rush do a schtick on it--I don't listen to radio except when in my car, or walk through the shop when the mechanics have it on--but it IS on all over the U.S.--when flying people around the U.S. and waiting for them, if there is a radio on, usually it is turned to Rush--there aren't many liberals in aviation, people in this industry have seen the worst of the Federal Government arrogance, waste, ineptitude, and inefficiency in the FAA! :D   I'm sure Rush covered it sometime, though.

I'm sure that if I keep flying long enough, I'll find SOMEONE that listens to liberal radio--OH, THAT'S RIGHT, LIBERALS HAVE NEVER HAD A NATIONAL AUDIENCE LIKE TALK RADIO. :p  I listen to Franken, now that you put the link on the computer--I just have to use headsets.  Can you find a way to put Rush's screen on the computer while I listen to Franken--just so people don't think I'm a liberal?

Rosebud--Franken will be on the air at least until after the election--the Air America spokesman on Nightline said they projected at least 2 years of losses before it turned around--perhaps it will be propped up by the DNC.  Once again, it will be those "mean old businessmen" that won't give their "fair share" of advertising dollars to this failed show.

The experts say Republicans just really like talk radio. The host doesn't really have to much to do wit it.
