Quote | Whenever economics are focosed on it always amazes me how standard "turnarounds" take at least 8 years to cycle. Anotherwords, we are living under Clintons economic outcomes. |
8 years to turn around and it’s still all Clintons fault? You really do not understand economics at all then, do you? Let’s look at your claims here so we can really start to give credit to where it belongs. 8 Years, so let’s see, Carter was responsible for the economic gains of the mid 80’s and Reagan was at fault for the economic downturn in the late 80’s. You are also saying that the tech industry had nothing to do with the gains in the mid-late 90’s, that somehow that was all because of Bush Sr.? And to top it all off, Bush’s tax cuts will not be felt for at least another 7 years??
Quote | Each voter not only needs to show up and vote an election day he/she needs to take responsiblity and do some homework with understanding of current events and outcomes so they can be as informed as possible. |
You really need to take your own advice here, as you really have no clue and are really just repeating the dogma of the hate radio hosts. Let me guess, you will vote party republicans straight through in November. Let me ask, do you get all your info from Ann or Rush?
Quote | Fox News stated… My point was that if the economy has been less than stellar, we need look no further than the economic policies of Bill Clinton. Economic reality takes eight years to realize. |
I find it funny that your point is almost exactly what I hear from the fox news talking heads. Again, the economic policy does not take 8 years to see an effect, at most 2. The economic problems you see now are a result of the dot-com bubble-burst, the war on terrorism, enron, and failed policies enacted by this administration.

CPU_slave--you are right--8 years is a obviously not the correct "lead" time for economic policies to kick in--at least in this era of instant communications. In the Roosevelt era (depression), though, it DID take about that long (1933-41). Many other factors NOT under the control of the Presidential Administration in power cause the markets (and the economy) to boom or bounce--just look at how markets react to the slightest rumor or pretext of news. Lack of consumer confidence makes a market nearly immobile, while rising expectations cause what Greenspan calls "irrational exhuberance"--as exemplified by the last "bubble". People were paying outrageous multiples of earnings for the shares of unproven dot.com companies, not because they believed in the underlying strenth of the company, but because they thought the market would go up forever--the "Bigger Fool Than Me" theory. Under normal scenarios, people would have pulled their money out of these questionable investments--but with interest rates and foreign markets so low, there was no place else to invest cash--including FOREIGN cash--driving the markets higher until the bubble burst.
Another factor--don't forget that a Presidential Administration may PROPOSE a budget--but only CONGRESS can actually ENACT or SPEND it
I agree with your 2-year assessment for a time frame for policies to take hold.

I'd like to know who really runs this world. Ever heard of the Trilateral Commission? There's some big time dudes for you. They even have a web site. I'd bet there's a small group of people in this country that influence a lot of what goes on in our small existences on an everyday basis. Think about it.
