Yes the excise tax could be a reason for the influx of import freight, hard to tell, this time of year is so nutty. When our President last went to China he negotiated a 12% decrease on imports there. My friend who owns the grain transfer facility is ecstatic, his business is way up. China’s not the only country we trade with, Micronasia, India, N Korea, even the new powerhouse on the block, Vietnam do volumes of business with the US.
There’s always going to be a thirst for products, we’re a nation of consumers, a throw away society. Countries especially like China need our business and maybe there’ll be negotiations with them over their import taxes.
The future is extremely bright, because of the infrastructure projects forecast I’ve been pondering going out and buying a dirt wagon. Over a $100 per hour is mighty enticing.

Excise taxes are disproportionately borne by middle and low-income taxpayers, making them one of the most regressive components of the U.S. tax system.
We have a large number of citizens living pay check to pay check, to further burden this sector of our population with a consumption tax will be disastrous to the economy.
There are no signs the economy is capable of delivering a phenomenal and rarely achieved growth rate to support this tax cut..
Trickle Down simply doesn't work, it won't pay our bills...

QUOTE The future is extremely bright, because of the infrastructure projects forecast I’ve been pondering going out and buying a dirt wagon. Over a $100 per hour is mighty enticing. There's another problem, not that we don't need it but how do we pay for it...we've just spent 1.5 trillion on tax cuts that we really couldn't afford.
As for you, infrastructure projects are long dirty days, requiring travel, motel stays, shortening the life of tires, requiring more engine maintenance and in general a shorter lifespan of equipment.
At the end of the day you'd probably come out ahead hustling those nice clean dry containers around, and being home every night can't be put into dollars and cents or is that sense...
even if you're offered Per Diem- it's a shared room and a crappy meal..

'I've pulled end dump before and quite informed as to what it takes, long hours in dirty conditions are a way of life in containers also. As my uncle, who also pulled belly dump would tell me, "grease is cheap, use it every day"
Getting dirty? Showers are great, I ttake one every day. You should too👌

^^Oh my the Christmas spirit is gone, you must have had a double dose of orange Kool-aid for breakfast, you've turned Right back into a Trumpbot. Can't come up with an explanation or defense so you go into attack mode- bark bark bark..idgit
So does Congress come up with a trillion for infrastructure, Trumps budget which has yet to be implemented calls for cuts to the Department of Transportation (DOT) Rail Roads and everything else.
The Trump Plan calls for $200 billion toward transportation projects over 10 years, he's basing his plan on big tax breaks to private sector entities. $200 billion over 10 years is peanuts, the Trump Infrastructure Plan is more smoke and mirrors for a corporate giveaway...
One area I agree with Trump he's cutting funding to all these rural airports, unfortunately Albert Lea will just raise my property tax to support Jim Hanson's hobby. You voted for him Jimmy he's going to cut your welfare...
Trump wants to privatize the air-traffic controllers, large airports why shouldn't we privatize that money pit Hanson manages..I'm tired of financing other peoples hobbies..
