Alci would like you to believe that it's some grand master plan drummed up by Obama to break Russia.
I don't know if anyone thinks that this is a master plan of Obama's. But it certainly throws out the GOP talking points and scare tactics when it comes to oil. For example,
we don't need to sacrifice the environment (ANWR or the Ogallala Aquifer) in order to get cheaper gas or become a net exporter of oil.Reuters: U.S. crude exports highest since '57As for "total independance", I'm sure you realize that because of global trade there's no such thing. If the oil gets cheaper the companies will just send it elsewhere. We're a net exporter for the first time in over 50 years but we didn't see the price decline until the global price declined.
EIA: Oil Exports Chart by YearLike I said, Obama doesn't deserve the credit, but it proves that the nation can do just as well (better actually) on the subject of energy independence and the economy with Democrats holding the Oval Office and either or both houses of Congress. Thanks to new technology we've beat Repubs on both subjects and they were kicking and screaming the whole way
saying it would never happen without drilling in ANWR and building the XL phase of the pipeline.
I guess all those "pipe-dreams" (pun intended) weren't needed.
Oil prices aren't going to stay low forever, it would be nice to have the infrastructure in place for when the prices do rise again.

I don't think we're going to see $5 gas but enjoy what we have for now.
