Posted your picture on a forum I found... This is the answer I got back.

This is a female jumping spider (family Salticidae) in the genus Phidippus, possibly the bold jumper, Phidippus audax. They are active hunters, having excellent (for spiders) eyesight.

On that note I really really need to get out and shoot more photos.

Thank you for the ID nzeroesc. I appreciate the time it took you to do this.

With that said ..

It is common courtesy to ask before posting someone elses picture. I'm surprised the website that you found didn't tell you that. Regardless .. just an FYI. You may run into photographers that would get very upset about something like that. Websites that are devoted to photography normally have an understanding.

And now ... with that said ....

I am not upset about it ... but it did feel a little weird.

If I was the size of that spider, and saw a massive black object like that bearing down on me, I think I would about-face and shoot something too!

Dr. Pride here

I'm an ENGLISH speaking white GERMAN-AMERICAN, and DAMN PROUD OF IT!

What bothers people more... the fact others disagree w/them, or that the others just might be right after all?

If you're being stupid, acting stupid, or just plain stupid, I will not hesitate to let u know!

  ... yes, but first it was though he was posing, bobbing up and down. It was really kind of funny.

Do you have a shutter hobby too? What kind of camera? What do you like to shoot? I always like to find fellow shooters  :D  Haven't really found too many around this area though.

I don't get out as much as I should.  just hard to find the time.  I shoot a lot of car shows and race weekends which crosses over to my other hobby.  Been renting any longer lenses I need from http://www.lensrentals.com  I have shot wildlife in the area, but nothing like the pictures you have shown.

Canon 30D
EF 50mm f/1.8 II
