Funny!   :)   It is copied and pasted from an advertisement so sorry it sounds like a pitch but....it is!

Don't forget to drop off your "Hunter's Heroes letters!"

Aren't ya'll getting a little tired of Karaoke?  Its in most every bar and is getting very annoying when people sound bad at high volumes.

It depends on which karaoke shows you go to. Actually at my shows about 90% of the singers are pretty good! Also we do a lot of other things like Trivia and silly games and giveaway prizes. We also incorporate dance music, comedy, and other talents. We have had everything from Fire eaters to contortionists at our shows!

We try hard to make sure that we do things differently so that we are able to include everyone in the fun whether they want to sing or not. Of course there will be the occasional "Bad" singer but at least people are having fun and participating.

We also do Karaoke for kids in the summer which is really rewarding to us. I can't believe how much confidence some of these kids have!

I choose to take a different approach to my shows and can honestly say that mine are COMPLETELY different from your standard karaoke show.

I do at least 10 hours of research a day on entertainment. Fashion, movies, music (of course), comedy, technology, politics, sports, history, psychology, and a lot more. I incorporate a little bit of all of these things into my shows as well as the shows my other KJ's are running. THAT is what makes us different and also what makes us appeal to almost everyone.

I love my business....I never thought I would be doing this for a living, but little did I know....I was thrown into my dream job. Not everyone likes karaoke....but I don't like Basketball. So you probably won't see me at a basketball game and I probably won't see you at a Karaoke show

P.S. Slammer's is actually nice because if you sit on the other side of the bar you can barely hear the karaoke and it is easy to talk  :)

I think it is great Kitten.  I think I would have picked a different bar to have it in though.  I have been to a karoke thing down there before (not your show) and if you have that much stuff going on in that tiny bar, where do people sit?  I don't know why the bar uptown can't ever seem to get something going.  It used to be really popular when it was the Topshelf.  They have much more room to do all the things you say you bring in with your shows.

Actually Slammer's Bar IS the old Top Shelf uptown on Clark Street(VFW...The Rose...Andy's Roadhouse etc... it has had so many names it is confusing!)and that is where I have the shows every Wednesday and Thursday! Also, Slammer's has really grown from what I have seen. From my first show (Oct. 2003) till now I have seen an awesome increase in the popularity of the bar. Their problem is their lack of advertising. They get really good bands that play nearly every weekend....pool and dart tournaments and the bartenders are really personable which makes for a good time also!

They only lease the upstairs portion of the bar but there is plenty of room. The sound system is huge but the way the place is set up you can be down in what we call the "Entertainment section" where there is a nice dancefloor and several tables, in the pool table section I think there are 4 or 5 pool tables, or on the other side where it blocks the sound a bit more and you can carry a conversation without having to scream over me playing music and talking!!  :)

We have 3 different sound and light systems so we can downsize for almost any space without blasting people away with music or taking up a lot of room!

Yea....they do have karaoke there too, but you are absolutely right Tiger. It is not set up right for karaoke at all. They stick it in a little corner and there is no way to position the speakers to get a good sound ANYWHERE in the bar unless you stand right in front of the system. I have been there a couple of times and I don't care for it at all. I don't necessarily like that particular karaoke company's style of entertainment either. Not that it is bad....just that it appeals ONLY to those who like to sing.
