I havent seen or heard people talk about this much. I have to say, I dont have an opinion one way or another as to his guilt. All I can say is, if he is found quilty of rape, once, just once I would like to see an athlete recieve the same sentence you or I  would. I have read that Colorado is the last place in the states that you would want to be accused of a sexual crime, they are very hard on this. But, from what I have read in sports illistrated, the judge would still have the option of probation. Come on people, how many of us would get probation for rape? I will bet anyone five bucks that if he is found guilty probation is all he will get.

I also have just seen a little bit of news on this here and there, and haven't quite come up with an opinion yet either on his guilt. I do agree however, that IF he is found guilty, that he gets treated like anyone else with his sentence.

I just heard on the news that Kobe Bryant has offered his accuser 5 million to drop the charges. Now I understand that he has a lot at stake here, but why in the world, if you were not guilty of this crime, would you offer to pay the person falsely accusing you that sum of money? He is going to set this person up for life, the person he says wrongly accused him of rape. Now, my next question, actually, I think I need to ask some of the famales here. If a man raped you, would 5 million keep you from making him pay for his crime? Understand before you answer that 5 million to Kobe Bryant would be about the same as me paying you a 100 dollar bill to keep your mouth shut, maybe even less.

This sounds like witness tampering to me  ??? .  If he were truly interested in proving his innocence, he wouldn't be trying to pay off the victim.

Kobe apparently thinks money solves everything.  He bought his wife a $4M diamond ring for cheating on her.  Now $5M to make the victim forgive him?  I know it's naive to think so, but consider all the people he could help with his money, instead of trying to save his own a$$.

For a funny one, go to kqrs.com, click on "morning show", then "pictures" and scroll down to see Kobe in his new uniform   .

Here is something else to think about, and Hoosier you kind of touched on it yourself.  You said 5million to him is like pocket change for him.  I can see why he is doing this, pocket change and settle out of court or go to trial in a state that is fairly strict on this type of crime and risk losing everything.  I think if any of us had the same assests and financial capability that Kobe has, most of us would try to settle out of court and go on with our lives making 10 times as much in a short amount of time.

I still haven't decided whether I think he is or is not guilty.

And Hoosier, to your question of whether 5 million would be enough for a woman to settle out of court, I can't give you an honest answer because I haven't been put in that situation.  However, if I had, 5 million is a lot of money and I could do a lot to better myself with that kind of cash.  Plus if I was raped, 5 million isn't going to make that go away and neither would making the perp sit in prison.  Money is powerful.  This is my honest answer without ever having been in the position.

I can see why you would feel like that, I wanted to say that if I was a women, I would take the 5 million, but I didnt want to sound like a pig, at least not until a female had a chance to comment. But you are right, at this point he has got to go for it, his indorsement career is over either way it goes, he needs to get back on the court to make a living. All I can say is if he did do it, he better go to jail, just like I would.

I'm sure other women will disagree and ridicule.  But like I said before money is a powerful thing.

Good topic though, this should bring out many different opinions.

Hoosier, I'm afraid not many women are going to respond because a lot of them maybe aren't looking at the Kobe Bryant topic.  I would like to hear what more women think on the touchy subject you have come up with.

IF he raped me, 5M would be enough for me to set up and dole out my own punishment. It may be the only guarantee there is of some form of win.  Although I doubt I would think of that until it was too late. (I always think of things after it's too late).

I see it like this, she's flattered and flirting, goes to the room, things get out of hand, she panics, tries to back out but it's too late...or same scenario but doesn't try to back out and realizes her mistake when she realizes in his eyes she has no name and decides to make him pay.  Either way, I doubt his punishment will be what most men would get.  If they can prove rape though, he should do the time just like anybody else.

Who's raping who!

Reminds me of that old song...Whose sorry now....whose sorry now?

If she was offered $5 million...she'll take it. Only a complete fool and idiot hoe would pass up a free life. All your life time earnings up front and tax free at age 20! or.....prove a point to some guy who wanted your young sex...hrmmm...let me see.... I'll take the 5 bills please...thankyou.
