after reading the article about the lake mills school i got to thinking about the situation at the city hall! with the departure of the fiance director has the city instituted a financial audit? i would think it would be a prudent action considering the events that have occurred. if irregularities occurred they should be investigated & dealt with the appropriate action! it seems the city is reluctant to pursue wrong doers. i will give norman the benefit of doubt regarding his credit card usage. he did pay in full all of the charges he incurred. did the fiance director pay back her charges with the city credit card that she allegedly made? if she did this once how many other times has it occurred? hopefully the city has changed its policy on the credit card usage & oversight of the same!

OK usmcr, they KNOW the finance director made improper charges and have done nothing. What makes you think they are going to do anything if an audit is done and more bogus charges are found?
We have a case here where if the books were inspected all our department heads would be facing felonies. This is truly a case of the fox overseeing the hen house. They don't even want to look at the books.

I'd guess you should blame the mayor, it's his job to report this stuff to the Council.
A better question is, "Why is the Tribune silent on this?"

typical AL Trib news: so many press releases, so few researched artlcles
I understand the boosterism, but shouldn't a newspaper also be charged with keeping local government accountable?

I don't think the city and newspaper are seeing the big picture. It's precisely things like this that prohibit growth. When fims see the inherent unfairness that takes place they feel they can be undermined by backroom payers and opt out. They stay clear and choose not to do busness in town. They figure it's corrupt.

I am not trying to be disrespectful here, but are you SERIOUSLY going to suggest that? The County Attorney who really doesn't have a good track record of late of upholding justice, and the City Attorney really hasn't been around long enough to be able to withstand any blackmail that could come down the pipe (Insert what got Norman Tried to begin with). This is a small town..the small town politics and the "good ol' boys" club run rampant. He isn't going to do anything...something like this needs to be taken to a higher power as it were...the question is...who?
