Did the former sherriff get the boot? I haven't seen him and no one seems to know.

I think it's a shame anyone got booted. The Y should've suspended these two members with a warning and that another violation would result in something more permanent.
Having said that, the Y is a place to work out, to concentrate on fitness and perhaps do some small talk while cooling down in the steam room. The last thing anyone wants to do is start turning it into argue sessions.
And the retired LEO's (law enforcement officers) should realize the Y is not their new station. It's the Y.

It's the Young Men's Christian Association. For crying out loud, if members are going to thug it up they should be made to take a hike! As far as where The Boss is going, where ever it is it will not be long lived. The man is socially retarted and challanged by human contact.

I am not going to side with the Boss, but i will say the Y could use a new director and better direction. As a former long time employee of the Y I will say that the employees are under payed and do take on more than one position. I donated a decade of employment to that place and made the same wage for many years. it wasn't because I didn't do good work, because i did and increasingly received more job responsibiliteis for my good work, but not more pay. My wage only changed when the minimum wage changed and the director didn't have a choice but to increase our wages. So when they would send letters out to Y members stating that memberships were being raised due to the rising cost of living and to pay their employees competive pay, i was just appauld becuase our pay was not affected by membership increases. And if you put full time hours in, you are not offered benefits that only (3) employees at the Y are offered, and if any overtime was put in (more than 40 hrs a week) it was considered donated time. Knowing a current employee that has been there for their lifetime, I here that policy changed and now they allow them to bank their hours and get paid for them when they have fewer than 40 hours some week (which is never for this person) so therefore they never get paid for their hours. I informed them that it was illegal how they are being told to deal with their OT and they should do something about it! And as far as the dirrector's new car, I contribute that to the success of his wife. She wears the pants in the house andl is the silent partner in decissions that are made at the Y, becuase yes as you said, the director does not posses a backbone! The repairs and cleanliness of the Y hasn't changed during the time I was there, nor do I believe it ever will under its current direction! So as a former member and employee take my lead and if you don't like it just get out. Because until there is a new director, I don't believe things will ever change! I worked under the direction of Jeff Filipek, and he was great and sadly missed and a lot of good employees were lost after he left!

Hate to break it to you Boss. But Nolander is back at the Y. I don't know him well enough to ask, and if I did not sure I would. But he was either reinstated or was never given the boot.

Howie,
Who Cares ?
I'm much happier not going out there.
Now, I don't have to worry about The " Fearless Director" or the ex-sheriff.
I wouldn't go back until they get a new Director, and the ex-sheriff is 6 feet under and not breathing.
PS. See, what did I tell you about the " GOOD OLD BOYS CLUB." The ex-sheriff must of found some really thick KNEE PADS and LIP GLOSS and done some a$$ kissing.
