This place is going down hill fast. They keep raising the membership fees , but they can't keep up with the repairs. The swimming pool has alot of problems and the men's steam-room is broke down alot and they never seem to fix it for long term.  Alot of members have quit because of this and the way they are treated by the Director of the Y. The Director is wothless and he doesn't treat all of his members the same.

The ex-sheriff was kicked out of the Y because he attacked another member in the locker room.

Also , who is the Mexican trainer out there? He sure looks like the ex-cop that worked at the high school and was taking kids out to lunch on school time. The school has a closed lunch rule and he was taking them out. Parents were calling the school and asking why the kids were out to lunch with him. The police department demoted him and put him back on street patrol.

Give me a break.  Many of the people that go there often complain and gossip about this or that.  It's like guys in a coffee shop, it keeps them entertained.  Then they get so tired of the problems they believe are going on, so they go somewhere else to workout for a while.  Then they come back to the Y and whine about the other place too.

irisheyes.

Have you been to the Y latley ?  The Y lost alot of there older members due to the problems with the swimming pool. Cold water due to heater problems all the time will lose members fast.  The building was new in 1977. It has never had the money for upkeep. In the last few year's it has went down hill fast. Raising the rates and not fixing the problems are a good way to lose members.  It's fillthy and dirty. I was in the steam-room and over heard the boys head high school hockey coach say there was an old band-aid on the floor for about a week. The men's shower-room has hair on the drain covers for about three days.    :p   The Director don't care or follow up on his crew. He only cares about his little group of friends.        :deadhorse:

So bend over and grab the hair out of the drain cover and throw it away. If it's in the shower it must be clean. Problem solved. Same with the band-aid.

This forum has been around for years and never has anyone had something negative to say about the YMCA. Then yesterday they were forced to terminate a person's membership, and all of the sudden the YMCA is like Hell on Earth. Why wasn't the YMCA such a horrible place before the membership was terminated?

He's lucky it was just his membership that he lost. There are a lot of guys out there that would have put the boots to him for talking like that.

LIBERAL.

When was the last time you were a member out there? I don't remember seeing you out there in the last few years.

Don't you remember what the old saying was when we were kids ?

" STICKS AND STONES WILL BREAK MY BONES , BUT " WORDS " WILL NEVER HURT ME."

I don't know what side of the railroad tracks you grew up on , but you are very weak if you don't just give it right back to the person verbally and move on.     :notworthy:

PS.     You can't control others , freedom of speech. Also , there was 3 (witness ) and none of them heard what the ex-sheriff claims the victim said.
The victims membership was canceled not due to the arguement with the ex-sheriff , It was due to the revenge because the ex-sheriff is one of the buddies of the Y director. The board kicked the ex-sheriff out as soon as the police report was filed. And this put the director on a " WITCH HUNT " to get the victim out about  5 weeks later.  The y is not the only place in town to work-out.

PSS.    By the way, they dropped assult charges on the ex-sheriff because it was not enough to charge him with 5th dagree assult. He must still have a few friends up there at the courthouse. I bet he was filling his underware full of BS while he was waiting for the verdict.

Posted by minnow on Oct. 23 2008,4:20 pm
What happened? Why did the ex-sheriff and another guy get into it?

It can be frustrating when crap don't work. Eliminate the pool, build both a mens and womens 1. Steam Bath 2. Hot tub 3. sauna. This kills 75% of the operating budget and makes the Y a better place. I like the way the free weight room has its own space as well as the cardio that has its own space.

If I'm not mistaken , that picture sure looks alot like the ex-sheriff's wife.  His wife is a very nice person and she is very polite.     :cheer:

Minnow ,

Not all parts of the Y is bad. I agree the free weight room and the cardio room has all been updated within the last few years.     :D

The fearless director needs to work harder on ways to fix the area's that need the most help.   Also it don't look good when the director gets a new car everytime they raise the membership rates. The office is way over staffed and he could cut waste by combinding jobs and pay them a few extra dollars for the extra work.   CUT THE FAT FIRST.  He is the most selfish director we have ever had at this Y.

The good Directors that were before him were ,  Ron Fish , Mark Posshel , Jeff Filapeck. These Directors were GOOD.

Posted by minnow on Oct. 23 2008,5:15 pm
Many Y's have counter staff that volunteer for free memberships. I agree, administration can be very thirsty, sucking up a large chunk of the money or piece of the pie.  Usually they earn their keep by soliciting money and conducting fundraisers.

The pool is by far the most expensive to operate and so much more could be done with that money. I'd like to see more of a super spa. Great cardio with large and wide running track, Great weights and machines then cool down with a deep steam bath, cold tub and hot tub and a spare dry sauna. Towel service, showers and even a protein shake and smoothie bar. Now you're talkin'!

Fighting Words get no 1st amendment protection, and what you posted here last night would be considered Fighting Words. And from what I've heard your post was tame compared to what you said.

LIBERAL,

You just don't get it. You are assuming the info you got was correct.

When your kids were younger and you caught them in the cookie jar , I bet they had a good excuse when you caught them.  " I wasn't going to eat it Dad , I just wanted to count them."     :D

Well this also goes for the ex-sheriff , when he noticed a witness was in the room he had alot of " EXCUSES "  1. Bad mouth wife. 2. He was provoked. 3. It was a set-up( He told the Director this). 4. The victim hit me first. 5. I was just going to my locker.

PS.    LIBERAL ,

What bone do you have to pick with this issue.

Did the ex-sheriff , Director or the mexican trainer call you?  Or are you related to one of these guy's.       :violin:

Don't get me wrong , I want to debate with you and others.  This is what I like about this chat board. I only post the facts and truth that I can back up.     :D

As you can see , I have about as much respect and dislike with the EX-SHERIFF as you do with the CURRENT SHERIFF.

PS.    This brings back memories about the last time I posted about the Sheriffs Election Topic.  When the Wanna- be sheriff ( Mexican trainer at the ymca ) was running for office. I posted why I didn't want him to win and you gave me a INTERNET SPANKING.   :flame:           :flame:

Posted by The Boss on Oct. 23 2008,10:33 pm
The ex-sheriff and the victim had a verbal fight. The ex-sheriff was sitting at a table. The victim was standing up. The ex-sheriff then stood up and charged at the victim , pushing the victim back about 5 to 10 feet.      :dunce:

This as good a time and place to address this. This is, in fact, a privately owned forum. The owner (Liberal) has the right to enforce or allow any rules regarding posted content he deems fit.

There are claims all the time about this forum and "the right to free speech." That right is being granted by the owner and upheld to a standard that is much greater than many of us can stomach. I applaud him for this- even when I agree with those that want to regulate posts and posters. It is not our collective "right" to post what we do, it's liberal's philosophy that we be allowed to post on his forum, on his server, through his IP service provider.

Thanks liberal. You really live up to your handle.

YOU started the incident at the Y, in fact you told me this yourself, and was very proud of the fact that this escatled. The truth is you are the only one who was kicked out of the Y and this should had happened a long time ago! If you had said the things about my wife like you said about the ex-sheriffs wife, things would have gone down a lot differently than they did! You are a coward and a bully and use your mouth to compensate for all of your short comings, not to mention a racist idiot!

Also , I'm not racist. The number one rule on here is you don't say names, and there are many trainers out at the Y. Since I can't say his name , I described him by skin color. You can read into it as much as you want and play the race card all you want. I don't care for the guy if his skin color was white, black or yellow. I just don't care for him as a person. He is a fake and I'm happy that he did'nt get the sheriff's job last election and so was 545 other people in this town.     :notworthy:

Boss-monkey bars? You are a child aren't you, but of course that goes with the short statue and small minded fool that you are. The name thing got to you didn't it buddy? Of course using your real name was not necessary (my bad) anyone who knows you now or in the past knows it was you that started the nonsense at the Y. But of course that happens everywhere you go - alienate people with your mouth (somethings just don't change). Don't you ever wonder why people walk the other way when they see you coming? Another thing get over yourself. Who cares who you voted for and who do you actually know that cares about your opinions- YOU ARE A JOKE and a coward.

Why can't you use names?  Is that really a rule?
Posted by Liberal on Oct. 24 2008,5:30 pm
Unless it's common knowledge who they are we'd like to keep the real names of forum users out of the conversations. There are some people out there that take this stuff far too serious.

Also we don't really like to use the names of people that work for the government, unless they're an incompetent department head, or if they steal 80 tons of railroad track.

That rule wouldn't apply to using Villareal's real name though because he ran for sheriff and that makes him a public figure.

My, my, my...  The "Boss Piggy" is in rare form again!   :sarcasm:   Those of us who grew up with you on the Southside viewed you with mild amusement, tolerance and pity.  You were the neighborhood blowhard who we all thought would eventually mature and grow up.  Sadly, we were wrong.

I do not view you or your posts as having even a modicum of credibility.  Let's examine the facts.  How about your employment history?  Face it, you can't keep a job.  But I imagine driving an ice cream truck and being a casino rent a cop is pretty technical, huh?   ???   I can hear you now:  It's "not my fault..."   :sarcasm:   You have an obvious vendetta against the Y Director.  In my opinion, this is because he once did his job as a law enforcement officer and placed your jiggly porcine butt behind bars.  You lie.  Your repeated crude comments to the former Sheriff regarding his wife were absolutely tasteless and wrong.  I for one am totally disgusted by your behavior and applaud your removal from the Y facility.  Now we no longer have to witness you waddling around the facility like Jabba the Hut, with your Speedo revealing shortcomings, juvenile behavior and humorous lack of physical fitness.

It's time for some sincere introspection Boss Piggy.  You may believe your socially unacceptable behavior is funny, or even legitimate, but mature adults know this form of idiocy is reserved for "L"oser minions.  Mental health counseling has come a long way.  I encourage you to stop embarrassing your wife and seek help...

Let me get this straight. Someone can say things to disparage my wife and I can physically assault them and get away with it? I can blame my violence on the other guy with the big mouth? I did not know that.

I always thought I had to refrain from assaulting someone who says things that piss me off.  Guess I was wrong.

Assuming that someone was physically assaulted.
Posted by The Boss on Oct. 26 2008,5:18 pm
Wandering Tiger  73  and  Liberal.

There was 3 witnesses before the attack. 1 Witness that seen the attack happen and reported it. None of the witnesses stated in the police report that they heard the victim say anything about the ex-sheriff's wife.       :dunno:

The victim was standing up and the ex-sheriff was sitting down. They were in a yelling match and the ex-sheriff charged and pushed the victim. The police report was filed because there was physical contact and the victim had a witness. The ex-sheriff had excuses because he was caught in the act. The city dropped charges because there was not enough contact for 5 th degree assult.  If the ex-sheriff would of stayed in his chair we both would still be members. The only reason I got involved was because he took something from one of the witnesses locker when he walked by.  I got caught in the cross-fire.     :frusty:  " CASE CLOSED. "     :frusty:

I have the police report , call me and I will show it to you.

  Wandering Tiger.

You got things mixed up. Let me un-mix it up for you.  ( I refuse to use names . )

Ex-sheriff =  He is the old sheriff before our current sheriff.  ( He gets very angry when he can't control people and you stand up for yourself.)

" Mexican Trainer " = He is not the Y director. He is the ex-cop / sheriff wanna-be that lost the election. (He works there now.)

" YMCA ( Fearless) Director "  =  He needs to grow a back-bone and find a pair of balls. I Never had a major problem with him until now. He is the only one I don't understand in this mess. His buddy the ex-sheriff got the boot 2 days after the attack and I got the boot 5 weeks later.

 Side Note:

On the YMCA board of directors you have,  one cop ,  one judge/ ex-city attorney, and the ex-sheriff.

I don't blame the board , as much as I blame the fearless Y director for going out of his way to get me booted.  I TOLD THE DIRECTOR that I didn't want eathier of us gone. The problem was solved by the court system.    " CASE CLOSED. "       :woohoo:

PS.   I hope this helps you.      :flame:

Having just joined this post I came across this YMCA article.  I am quessing who the boss is from having seen him at the YMCA.  From what I heard he was removed due to not listening to authority.  Someone said he lipped off to the program director and then a week later lipped off to the Director.  Another person said they saw him in the locker room after he was booted and that tresspassing charges were filed on him. seems that the boss follows his own rule without care for how he hurts others.  From what I have heard he hides behind this site so he can abuse and harass others cause he can't do it face to face.  Kind of funny reading all of his ridiculous ideas.

Not always from what I've heard. I've heard some people just runaway.

Seriously... if what you're claiming is true, aren't you just a little embarrassed that an older retired guy roughed you up?

Liberal,

Alot of people have told me I should of hit the ex-sheriff when he came at me. I had to grab him by the shoulders and I did a pivot move to get him away from me.

Hit him/ NO WAY , because you only need to use as much force as needed to protect yourself.

I had to use good judgement:

1. He didn't have a weapon in his hand.

 2. He was not throwing punches. ( He was just pushing)

  *   If I would of punched him , just my luck they would of charged me with 5 th degree assult.        :hairpull:

PS.    LIBERAL , I have known you from childhood , call me and I will let you read the police report so you can " RELAX "         :deadhorse:    I WILL BRING IT TO YOU AND YOU CAN READ IT IN THE PARK NEXT TO YOUR HOUSE. I WILL PUSH YOU IN THE SWING WHILE YOU READ THE POLICE REPORT.

I worked at the Y for about 5 years and just wanted to address some of the things brought up. As far as the things needed to be fixed...there just isn't the money to do so. Someone said that staff should do more jobs to save money..- did 3 different jobs when I was there and I know most of the staff do the same. Also as far as the pool being too cold, the swim team needs it a certain temp for them to swim. Now as for the director...I think he just has too much on his plate with all the repairs that need to be done and lack of funding. He could probably do a better job though. Now to the boss...I'm getting sick of u refering to Mr. Villerreal as "the mexican trainer" he does have a name. Are u just a rascist or what? I was kind of shocked when I read this and saw that 2 "GROWN" men were kicked out for fighting. I was expecting it to be some teenagers or something. The Y is a family place not a boxing ring. But to tell u the truth just by reading your comments on here I would have floored u too!

mommyof2,

Read my earlier post and start at the 1st post in this topic. I said I refuse to say names. Well he is Mexican isn't he? Do you want me to say the Black trainer/ the white trainer/ the yellow trainer?

You said there is no money to fix things, that's my POINT. They raise the rates and the " FEARLESS DIRECTOR " gets a new car and the staff get a raise. The members get nothing.       :(

The pool needs to be cold for swim team races. But when the swim team is done for the season, the pool needs to be set at a warmer temp. Just ask them old ladies in rusty hindges that have quit.        :notworthy:

PS.   Now Mommyof2, get busy and make some more kids and come back here when your screen name is " MOMMYOF4"         :woohoo:

Boss, the story is that your big mouth overloaded your a$$ again.  Your lucky you are still living.  If you said half the things I'm told you said to Nolander before he lost it, anyone else anyone would not have thought twice about having you take the big dirt nap.  You should be ashamed of what you did, but instead you come on here and lay it out like you are the victim.  Get some help before there is a next time.  The next person you go off on may not have the self control the ex-shariff had.
Posted by The Boss on Oct. 27 2008,9:51 pm
kRUSTY,

Slow down and read all of the post in this topic.

There was 3 witnesses. All 3 heard the first argument and 1 was there when the ex-sheriff got out of his chair to attack. NOT ONE OF THE 3 WITNESSES HEARD WHAT THE EX-SHERIFF SAYS I SAID.  See when you do something stupid like he did , you have to come up with a excuse. My guess is the ex-sheriff didn't see the last witness or forgot he was still in the room.      :frusty:

PS.  You and alot of the others on here need to get there facts straight, you ASSUME I said something bad about his wife.           :deadhorse:

Posted by mommyof2 on Oct. 27 2008,9:51 pm
Well u act like you are big and bad so why not name names? And staff do not get raises believe me...I made the same $ I did the day I left there that I did when I started! And the "old ladies" from rusty hinges were the only ones really complaining about the temp...maybe they should go somewhere else than! I'm kinda thinking the fact that they are older that's the problem...sorry don't mean to be rude at all! And they have made some changes with the money...when I was there they got a ton of new equipment in the smb room and redid the locker rooms..might not be a lot but its a start!       Oh and as for as making more kids...I'm VERY proud of being a mommy so if that was suppossed to hurt try again! Too bad I'm sure you'll never have a loving familt like I do...not with your adittude!

mommyof2 The Boss has a lovely wife.  Everyone thinks so.  Take every thing you feel about The Boss and let the the pendulum swing as far away from him as it can, that is how lovely his wife is.  That being said, The Boss's attitude is pretty bad, the worst, hell if it isn't rotten to the core I'll be dammed.

Wow, this boss never quits!  It appears that life is good for him if it goes his way.  If something is bad it is everyone elses fault.  In his world he is perfect.  I bet he has never caused a problem in his life(joke)  I read the whole discussion and it appears you do not understand right from wrong.  It is not ok to verbally attack people - maybe in your little insignificant world.  Why is it that the only way you can interact is by tearing down and ripping other people apart all around you.  When I saw you around at the YMCA I thought you were an ok person, but that perception has changed.  The discussion around the community says that you are not a very nice or kind person and are a real coward.  What a life you must really live.  Own up to your mistakes and treat others with some respect and maybe you would earn some!!!!!

Mastermind35,

Here is my like and dislike list.

     I  Dislike =  " Fearless "  (YMCA  director.)

" Mexican Trainer "  ( at the YMCA.)

                        " Ex-sheriff "   ( Running loose in the world.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------

                          Mastermind35

( You are stuck in the middle, you choose where you want to go ? )

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I  Like =   All others in this world.

PS.     Just remember, I didn't get the boot until about 5 weeks after the assult by the ex-sheriff was reported to the police on  9-11-08. The ex-sheriff was gone on 9-13-08 two days after the assult.

My guess is that after the charges were dropped ( 10-3-08) by the city for not enough physical contact , That the YMCA board did not let the ex-sheriff back in to the Y.

Then the" Fearless Director"  had to dig deep to get me out too, because he is in charge of the " GOOD OLD BOYS CLUB. "          :finger:

I never wanted to be in the good old boys club, that was why the " Fearless Director " has never cared for me , and thats ok with me.          :lalala:

*    Like I have said before , I have never had to " KISSED A$$ TO GET AHEAD IN LIFE , AND I NEVER WILL. "

Your options are probably getting smaller and smaller.  You just don't get it.  You live in a tiny little bubble.  Your likes and dislikes don't state a word about all the mistakes you continually make.  You can flip people off and taunt them but in the public eye you are an A NUMBER ONE COWARD.  Grow up and be a real man!!!
Enjoy your workout far away from the rest of the real world.

Did the former sherriff get the boot?  I haven't seen him  and no one seems to know.
Posted by minnow on Oct. 28 2008,11:52 am
I think it's a shame anyone got booted. The Y should've suspended these two members with a warning and that another violation would result in something more permanent.

Having said that, the Y is a place to work out, to concentrate on fitness and perhaps do some small talk while cooling down in the steam room. The last thing anyone wants to do is start turning it into argue sessions.

And the retired LEO's (law enforcement officers) should realize the Y is not their new station. It's the Y.

MINNOW,

  WELL SAID.

I told the " Fearless Y Director " That I didn't want the ex-sheriff kicked out over this event. I also told him that I filed assult charges because he made physical contct and I had a witness.       :dunno:

I don't know about the ex-sheriff, but I'm alot happier now that I don't have to see the " Fearless Y Director" on a daily basis.     :D

I am not going to side with the Boss, but i will say the Y could use a new director and better direction.  As a former long time employee of the Y I will say that the employees are under payed and do take on more than one position.  I donated a decade of employment to that place and made the same wage for many years.  it wasn't because I didn't do good work, because i did and increasingly received more job responsibiliteis for my good work, but not more pay. My wage only changed when the minimum wage changed and  the director didn't have a choice but to increase our wages.  So when they would send letters out to Y members stating that memberships were being raised due to the rising cost of living and to pay their employees competive pay, i was just appauld becuase our pay was not affected by membership increases. And if you put full time hours in, you are not offered benefits that only (3) employees at the Y are offered, and if any overtime was put in (more than 40 hrs a week) it was considered donated time. Knowing a current employee that has been there for their lifetime, I here that policy changed and now they allow them to bank their hours and get paid for them when they have fewer than 40 hours some week (which is never for this person) so therefore they never get paid for their hours.  I informed them that it was illegal how they are being told to deal with their OT and they should do something about it!  And as far as the dirrector's new car, I contribute that to the success of his wife.  She wears the pants in the house andl is the silent partner in decissions that are made at the Y, becuase yes as you said, the director does not posses a backbone!  The repairs and cleanliness of the Y hasn't changed during the time I was there, nor do I believe it ever will under its current direction!  So as a former member and employee take my lead and  if you don't like it just get out.  Because until there is a new director, I don't believe things will ever change!  I worked under the direction of Jeff Filipek, and he was great and sadly missed and a lot of good employees were lost after he left!

Hate to break it to you Boss.  But Nolander is back at the Y.  I don't know him well enough to ask, and if I did not sure I would.  But he was either reinstated or was never given the boot.

It just seems like someone went to a lot of pain and inconvience because he was upset about a member hogging the news paper.  Rather than assaulting the offending persons manhood, and dressing down his family, wouldn't have been more to the point to ask for the newspaper.
How about saying, "--- you are always hogging the news paper.  Its put down hear for all the members, anyway I can get a look at it."  Ya think maybe he would know what you were upset about and you could have resolved this without getting into the pushing that resulted from doing it your way?
Now you were the one who brought it here and made it very public.  So now that you have a new plan that makes you happier, and as a result you have promised someone over at Austin that it is over that it ends now.  You admitted that you started it some time ago, but I don't think you can just stop it anytime you wish.  When you have taken it this far and involved the world you can't say it end here because I say so, but if you agree with me on this please PM me because it really hasn't ended, I just don't want it public any more.  You should have thought of all this before you started it! :dunce:

This place is going down hill fast. They keep raising the membership fees , but they can't keep up with the repairs. The swimming pool has alot of problems and the men's steam-room is broke down alot and they never seem to fix it for long term.  Alot of members have quit because of this and the way they are treated by the Director of the Y.

Letters were sent out by mail to all members to inform them of this notice.

YMCA memberships will go up in,  January 2009.      :hairpull:

I'm not sure , but I think they raise there rates alot. Maybe about every other year.       :dunno:
