I'm not sure, but I think this bill requires the president to notify Congress before releasing terrorists.

QUOTE
‘‘National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2014’’
H. R. 3304—183

(d) NOTIFICATION.—The Secretary of Defense shall notify the
appropriate committees of Congress of a determination of the Secretary
under subsection (a) or (b) not later than 30 days before
the transfer or release of the individual under such subsection.
Each notification shall include, at a minimum, the following:
(1) A detailed statement of the basis for the transfer or
release.
(2) An explanation of why the transfer or release is in
the national security interests of the United States.
(3) A description of any actions taken to mitigate the risks
of reengagement by the individual to be transferred or released,
including any actions taken to address factors relevant to a
prior case of reengagement described in subsection ©(3).
(4) A copy of any Periodic Review Board findings relating
to the individual.
(5) A description of the evaluation conducted pursuant
to subsection ©, including a summary of the assessment
required by paragraph (6) of such subsection.

Oh, that' right.  They aren't terrorist.  Are they classified as detainees?

QUOTE
Republicans have reacted harshly to the Obama administration’s decision to swap five top former Taliban commanders for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was the sole American prisoner of war in Afghanistan. When it comes to the legality of the decision to do so, they have a point.

“The President also clearly violated laws which require him to notify Congress thirty days before any transfer of terrorists from Guantanamo Bay and to explain how the threat posed by such terrorists has been substantially mitigated,” House Armed Services Committee Chair Buck McKeon and his Senate counterpart, ranking member James Inhofe said in a statement shortly after Bergdahl’s release had been announced. “Our joy at Sergeant Berghdal’s release is tempered by the fact that President Obama chose to ignore the law, not to mention sound
policy, to achieve it.”

I sure hope we implanted them with tracking devices or something...

LOL.
I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt (innocent until proven guilty) until a tribunal is formed to find out for sure the circumstances around his capture.
I have my suspicions as well about his being captured, but I wasn't there.
As for the 5 we let go, I hope we had explosive devices surgically implanted in them, remote detonation ability at the right time would be perfect ending.

^^^ Maybe this is why the VA is "highly stressed"
The gov. pays more attention to grandpa getting his privates trimmed than they do the soldiers waiting on a supposed list.

Yep, this administration's priorities are right in line :sarcasm:

I don't think an HHS review board on Medicare sex change operations has much to do with the VA, or the administration's priorities.  When you read these articles, do you smell diesel exhaust at all?   :p

^Sure, I guess it's all the same to you.  That's like these idiots that blame the county for things the city does, or blaming the federal government for state laws.

But go ahead, SB.  Send a letter to that HHS review board regarding a Medicare sex change and explain that they're to blame for the VA scandal in Arizona.   :dunce:

^^why, are you getting your parts trimmed???
This would not surprise me.

What I'm saying is that it seems that our whole system of gov. is broken. We've strayed too far from the oringinal intent.

Now go ahead and tell me that I don't understand and that what's going on is for our own good.

Part of it is the same.  Apparently the feds through the HHS have enough money in their rolls to fund sex change operations for senior citizens who have decided after 60-70 years, they want to switch sides, but don't have the money or resources to properly fund VA clinics and hospitals.  Obviously the government is more concerned about an old man named Sue than a vet who need medical attention to possibly save or extend his life.

Tell me, after Sam becomes Sue does medicare do a prostrate exam with a vibrator?

It IS broken, rampant with corruption, greed and cronyism. The problem is, things as they stand are beneficial for a few select corporate elites who don't want to change one damn thing. But as long as their corporate-controlled media keeps saying, "Everything is Awesome!" over and over again, and the bulk of the flock keeps buying it, nothing will ever change.
