What can one expect to pay for a home of moderate proportion on the Lake there in Albert Lea ?? I am thinking in the area of a 1500 - 2200 sq. ft. home - 3 BR 2 BA 2 car garage and on the lake ??
Do you know if the City Employees of AL are required to live withing the city ??

Here's one on Albert Lea lake
I don't think they are required to live in the city.

First, let me apologize for other posts in your other thread regarding the fire department, they are not representative of Albert Lea, as I'm sure you realize. You appear to be someone who is considering moving to Albert Lea.
You will find that your dollars will buy more house here than other areas, plus you may be able to find one near or on a lake. You may find some bargains closer to $150,000, the example Liberal provided a link to is probably a good mid-range example, but others may be closer to $200k.
City employees are not required to live within the city limits. I cannot quote a policy, but I know of employees who do live outside of town.

Do sheriffs deputies get to drive police cars home? What if the deputy lives in another county...

They must because I've seen them sitting in front of their homes in Albert Lea and Glenville on a regular basis over the years. Don't know about out of county.

Thanks for the replies, I had a feeling that real estate was more reasonable there than where I currently live. We are really hoping to move back to our home state of Minnesota , where things were alot simpler and the people were alot friendlier.
I am Polish, therefore I will always feel better around other "Pollocks" !!
I really miss riding motorcycle up and down the Mississippi River Valley too !!
