Local Finance Director Accused Of Stealing Sausage
City Employee Suspended Without Pay

An employee for the city of Grosse Pointe (Michigan) has been suspended without pay for allegedly stealing sausage, Local 4 reported.
Glenn Mach, the city's finance director, was arrested on Dec. 23 after police said security cameras at the Kroger store on Jefferson and Marter allegedly caught him in the act of stealing a $4 package of Italian sausage.
The finance director was issued a citation for the misdemeanor charge of shoplifting, Local 4 reported.
"It's a shock to all of us. We would of never thought something like this would have ever happened," said Michael Overton, Grosse Pointe's city manager.
Mach, who makes a salary of about $70,000, was placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of the charges.
If he's convicted, he could face up to 90 days in jail and may lose his job, Local 4 reported.
Mach has worked for the city for the past 2½ years. The city is expected to conduct an investigation into his work practices, the station reported.
Mach could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.
