From Kaal News

Quote
A new state grant program is funneling (m) millions of taxpayer dollars into lobbying and other efforts that support smoking bans in Minnesota bars

Now this is the real kicker

Quote
A state Health Department official says the three-point-four (m) million dollars in grants is the best available option for carrying out a 2003 state law aimed at creating tobacco-free environments and decreasing youth smoking

Simple Solution is Keep kids out of bars no grant is needed Just pass a law that you must be 21 to enter an establishment that sells liquor.

Quote

Among the grants award, 250-thousand dollars in state money financed the anti-tabacco campaign Clean Air Minneapolis.

Another 250-thousand dollars is going to the Association of Nonsmokers-Minnesota for a campaign in Ramsey County.

Hey that is free money for the taking if only we can figure out how to get our share.

Dr. Burns, You got it figured out want to share the secret?

Im not a smoker myself, but I would be up for a night of tar and feathers when these people come to our town to force their smoking ban on us. Either make it illegal to do it at all, OR GET OFF PEOPLES BACKS, for doing something perfectly legal. If you dont smoke, but your favorite place in town allows it, tough $hit, find another place.

I smoked for over 30 years before stopping.  No one is going to quit unless they are ready and no amount of nagging or advertising is going to change that fact.  Many smokers quit several times in their lives only to fail due to lack of commitment.  Once they have committed quitting for good is easy.  I feel that the Government is butting into our lives way to much.  If you don't like a establishment due to smoke don't utilize that establishment.  I feel the smoking ban should be left to the owners/operators of the businesses and not an over vealous government.  Take the $$$ and put it to better use..............Road repair, RX's programs.......something that benefits the majority without trampling on peoples everyday lives.
