The Oklahoma city bombing is proof terrorist acts happen in the midwest. It doesn't have to come from over seas to be a terrorist act.

I agree with truckwriter about the 'mood buster'.
Lynn, I'm very happy that your brother is home safe.  The rest of the Unit as a matter of fact! I tip my hat to them....well, I would if I wore a hat anyhow!  Awesome news!

Maybe the mood should be broken. After reading her post I felt stoned and drunk, overwhelmed with false pride.
Maybe we should take a step back and examine ourselves instead of playing Al Greenwood and pretending we're all saints and heros for moment. It just may just save a friend or two...
Just because you blindly do what politicians tell you to do does not a true hero make. When we bask ourselves in self righteous pride, when we boast of purple hearts...someone is dying.
When we pretend we're all hero's and righteous in Gods eyes, it just perpetuates the insanity, the error.
In the end we have gained nothing but more enemies and terror....maybe that's what the rupublican elite want.

That is all timid, apologist, isolationist propoganda. Appeasement would be our undoing. Holding the world to higher standards makes it a safer place, not a more dangerous one, you poor confused liberal. You've been sold the new bag of crap from the 1990's wanna be establishment kiddo.

First, thank you to all who have made nice comments about my brother and his unit. My family really appreciate it.
Secondly Kid, You must not have any friends or family that are involved with the military, otherwise you wouldn't feel that way. These men and women ARE OUR HEROS. When the 1133rd first got over there they had to spend weeks at a time living out of their truck on missions. They slept on top of their trucks enduring the awful sand flies, eating those crappy MRE's and withstanding the blistering heat all the while doing their job with great expertise. They could be burned just picking up their guns which were at their sides every minute of every day of their life over there. Ice was was like gold over there. Temperatures some days had reached 140 degrees.
After that they went for four months working out of Camp Victory at Kuwait and running missions back and forth into Iraq.They finally got air conditioning units installed in their barracks and that cooled it down to a chilly 90 degrees.
The second half of their year over there the 2nd Platoon from the 1133rd was spent at Log Base Seitz. It is 2 miles west of the Baghdad airport in the heart of the Sunni Triangle. At Log Base Seitz from Mid-April to December the base was attacked 29 times by small-arms fire, mortars and rockets. More than 200 mortar shells had fallen on the camp. On Christmas Day, four rockets were fired at the camp. One hit a building right next to the 1133rd barracks, ripping two holes in the roof. There were no injuries that day, thankfully.
There were 35 soldiers injured on January 7th at Seitz when mortar struck. 11 soldiers from the 1133rd when a mortar round struck their sleeping quarters. Then, less than a month later, Josh was killed on Feb. 5th by mortar.
They lived in world that could instantly change them forever and all the while they were missing their families greatly. They did their jobs with pride.

Kid, I would much rather hear people boast about purple hearts than about their salary!!! I too think God would much rather see someone trying to protect others than watch you brag up how much you make. You my friend are a true arse!!!!
P.S. Rupublican is spelled Republican. I can see you are not the one with any kind of degree!

LOL@ 'Al' Greenwood!! Obviously you don't have very much knowlege there kid.  If you can't even get THAT correct, then obviously what you type is mosty bull****. You asked me in the Letter Drive topic why was I proud of my fiance', I won't even dignify that with a response because it would be too much for your little brain to handle. I will say this though, may God help you if there ever were to be a draft because he's probably the only one who would care what happened to you as a person, just like you show compassion for those men and women who are serving their country right now! 
And to anyone else reading this I apologize for putting myself down to 'its' level

They're not heroes,
Hero....
1 In mythology and legend, a man, often of divine ancestry, who is endowed with great courage and strength, celebrated for his bold exploits, and favored by the gods.
2. A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life: soldiers and nurses who were heroes in an unpopular war.
*The defininiton relevant here is #2...notice "nobility of purpose"
They're heroes for doing there jobs just like everybodies a hero for doing theirs. Killing towel heads does make one a hero per say...
Killing people you want to govern does not a hero make. If they came here and set up their form of government for us, how would you feel? They didn't do 9/11, yet you don't seem to care, yet that's exactly why you believe in your hero status. Want to be a hero, find Bin Laden.
But, they are not heroes I'm afraid. They're followers. Only a follower goes along with Uncle Sam when he attacks a country for something Bin Laden did.
1. We attacked Iraq and are nation building. That flys in the face of everything we stand for.
2. Iraq didn't do 9/11.
It's like you're beating up a kid on the street for stealing your wallet. When informed that, that wasn't the kid...you call me a jerk and tell me you are a hero because the kid deserved it anyway. History will prove you cowards. A real hero does not revenge make...false revenge on the wrong people.
I'm the real hero, because I stand up and call a spade and spade when it's unpopular to do so. That takes real guts...that's a real hero.
