Isnt it always amazing to hear a politician like Springborg say they want to control spending? Its real simple Dan, its one word, so I think you might be able to handle it, its NO! Or, Like Dan Belshan tries to do, if we can find the money from somewhere else. You want to control spending commissioner Springborg? Control yourself first. Liberal is right, it seems like the spend happy commissioners have been playing a popularity contest with the county department heads and employees against Belshan. Its like they decided to give them everything they ask for, then maybe they will like us better than they do Belshan. Who gives a rats @ss if the county employees like you or not? Just get some balls and tell them, you are their boss. But when it came time to make some tough decisions and cut things from the budget, the four cowards on the board, Mathiason, Springborg, Behrends, and Mullenbach, decided to ignore the recomondations of a citizen group that the commissioners formed themselves, and simply told the department heads, you make the decisions on what to cut. I got news for those idiot commissioners, It aint there job to cut the budget, its yours.
Someone needs to find a picture of Springborg standing in front of the new courthouse, put under it, "I want to control spending." It would be funny if they hadnt spent 40 million of tax payers money.

He says he wants to find ways the county can obtain some of their own revenue like with wind mills.
Does this guy really expect to invest tax dollars in wind mills and then go into the business of selling electricity?

Does anyone know if or who's running against him? I'd like to know what my options are.

I liked what he said in his campaign, so I voted for him. I won't do it again.

Springborg had a quirky kind of people pleasing campaign the first go round. He had a handout with his kids asking the constituents to vote for their dad. It was cute, however, he is now divorced and I highly doubt that he would have the kids campaign that same way this time. But who knows? Plus, the guy got really lucky. He was running against Porter and that guy made no bones about the fact that he wanted a new courthouse. There has to be someone in that District that wants to run. He will be the easiest to beat, that is for sure. Dan appears to be a pretty congenial fellow but may not be as well informed as he should be. If Scott Hanna runs against Mathiason, I think Hanna will win but it may close. Mathiason at first, appeared to be an independent thinker but as time went on the 4 to 1 votes were just too overwhelming. Behrends will run, I am sure, and there are plenty of farmers and other 5th District voters that are not happy with their taxes being raised. If someone runs against him that is fairly well known and respectable I think they can beat him. And I have decided that if these 3 get re-elected there is not much hope for us!

Nice post Advocate. You talked about Porter being for the courthouse. Wasnt that Springborgs ticket to getting elected? Didnt he campaign saying he was against building a new courthouse? Sorry, but Springborg is just plain stupid, stupid people are easy to influence, thats what happened with Springborg. He almost seems scared at this point to disagree with any of the other idiots on the board.
My advice to people considering running! Dont be so arragant that you think people want you to run because they like everything you do. Understand that people in this county are tired of politicians that think they were elected to do what only they think is right. In my opinion, we want people that are willing to put aside their own beliefs or wishes, and do what the majority of the people want. The politicians may say otherwise, but I dont vote for people that think its their job to tell all us peons what is best for us. My vote goes to someone that understands that they were elected to be our voice, to vote the way the people that elected him or her want them to. This bull$hit of the politician knows what is best for us just doesnt work anymore. And like I said before, if you aint part of the solution, you are part of the problem. In other words, dont play the game like it has always been played, the game being politics. Your number one loyalty must be to the people, everyone else can go to hell.
No more stupid people in politics, Mathiason, Behrends, and Springborg must be defeated this November.
One last thing to those that decide to run against these idiots. Dont think for a minute that because you have been asked to run that this in anyway gives you any slack. If you dont do your job, if you dont represent what the people want, you also will be crucified in this forum. Im not saying that Hoosier always has to agree with you, Im not always in the majority. But if more $hit like the courthouse vote happens, well, lets just say we all might bring back tar and feathers. Vote for change, vote for good county government, vote all commissioners running for reelection out of office. And on their way out the door, dont show one bit of respect to them, they dont deserve any. Bad politicians deserve nothing but to be run out of town. Just like our ex piece of $hit news paper editor.
