I thought Franken was a political humorist? He certainly is funnier to listen to than Rush, but then again I still find all this funny:
"There is no right to privacy specifically enumerated in the Constitution" -- Rush Limbaugh
So a group that Rush despises is coming to aid him in defense of a right that he denies exists. I wonder how Rush is going to turn this into a anti-Clinton spin? I mean, you know he is going to try. It's all he does. Well, that and take gargantuan doses of hard-core pain killers.

I find it interesting that whenever someone mentions something looney on the left--the immediate response is "What about Rush?"--presumably to take the subject off-topic, and avoid the embarrassing question. We're talking about Franken here--will he make it or not? Will liberal talk radio finally make it or not? Is Franken funny or not? It is indicative of the hatred the left has of Rush that invoking his name is the knee-jerk response to ANY criticizm of the left.
Like Rush or not--he HAS made a huge impact in conservative and Libertarian politics--even James Carville acknowledges that. He has INVENTED an entire INDUSTRY, and most media pundits credit him with SAVING AM RADIO.
As the subtitle on this thread asks--"will he make it on liberal radio? This is NOT a rhetorical question--"Why has there been no liberal equivalent?"

Here is his bio Anyone know any more?? What was name and location of the factory??
By Eric Hananoki, Al Franken Web
Al Franken was born on May 21, 1951. Originally born in New York City, his family moved to a small, southern Minnesota town, Albert Lea, where his father opened a quilting factory. Despite his father's best efforts, the venture eventually failed.
At the age of 6, Franken moved to the city of Minneapolis, where he spent most of his adolescence. Here, he lived in a district known as "St. Louis Park," but was also known as "St. Jewish Park." Franken's father worked as a printing salesman while his mother became a realtor.

Yes, I am an idiot. Why I believe in quotas and affirmative action, which causes reverse discrimination. I believe that the best student or the best job candidate should not get accepted until the quota is met.
I believe that things like United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Televison, and Miss Black America are not discriminatory, but if anyone would try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America then I would have to call these people racist!

Al--you're funnier than I thought!
Please give us a preview of your show--what do you think of Hilary, Michael Moore, Teddy Kennedy, and the "Hollywood Brain Trust?"

Off-topic? I assumed the discussion was about the new ”Liberal Radio” which is in direct contrast to the “Right-Wing Radio”, of which Rush is the self appointed spokesman. Personally, I would welcome some humor with my political commentary because the only thing I find funny about the Right-Wing Radio commentary is Rush and his hypocritical views, more recently the ones resulting from his own legal troubles.
As for Franken, I found some of his humor funny when he was on SNL. I also found his book about Rush to be humorous as well. Will he make it on the radio? Who knows, but even before he says his first words on the airwaves the right-wing Rush nuts are already coming at this with both barrels blazing. Tell ya what, if you don’t like the man or what he has to say then it’s as easy as NOT LISTENING!

I predict there will be more "Right Wingers" listening to Franken for the entertainment value and laughs than "Left Wingers" for their daily shot of "rationalization" and left-wing lunacy. Franken will finally get the laughs he deserves!

I wonder if Al and Paul O'Neal will sit down for a chat on the air. You all have Rush bashing Clinton, so what the matter with a little fair play and Al bashing Junior Bush You Republicians are starting to sound like a bunch of little kids. You can dish it out but can't take it!!!!! Freedom of speech goes BOTH ways

Franken should stick to what he does best, once he figures out what it is. In the meanwhile, he stays in the left-wing category that ruins their careers by thinking we care what they think politically.(Rosie, Whoopi, Alec and Barbara Streisand) Streisand by the way can't even fill a room anymore. Do you think it's really because she can't sing or because she thinks she carries political clout?
