I listen to the news and the government says the economy is booming but to read what you all have to say I would think we were in a depression.   So what gives?  Is the President lying to us? I know that I was a lot better off when Clinton was President then I am with Bush.  Also Goekarjo it looks as if your sales have dropped ever since Clinton left office. So what is Bush doing to help the small business people? :(

exactly I was worth more than a million dollars before the stock market took a crap. Thanks to The Bush administration, but thank God I had the insight to sell most of it and build this business.

Actually, it wasn't Bush that tanked the ecomomy, it was Greenspan.  Greenspan created an economic bubble that was to big to deflate without any repurcusions, and it burst on him.

When Bush took office the economy was on the down turn, it always happens when a new administration takes office, takes a while for the markets to reflect the change.

Also one cannot credit Bubba Klinton with a booming economy, it was Reagan and his administration that set things into motion, any and all changes to an economy take about 8-10 years to show any effects...

Sure Wal-Mart has the best in electronics

Sorry but I will disagree with you on that..
Most of Wal-Marts electronics are refurbished products, this is how they can sell at a low cost, most of Wal-Marts Electronics are sub-par.  I can get better stuff online and way cheaper.

Wal-Marts computers are a joke as well, technology that is 5years old and their workers don't know jack about anything, crapzen, my 1 year old daughter knows more than those idiots.

All in all, Wal-Mart just plain Sux....

Guess that one would only have to travel to the northbridge mall to see for themselves two of the stores that not only fled the skyline mall location but kept their store names, Skyline Jewelers and Skyline Hairport. Every time that I walk past I wonder WHAT THE HECK OUT OF TOWNERS WONDER?????

Rumor has it that up to 5 individual stores (not counting the Hy-Vee warehouse and the old On Cue/Sam Goody) are planning on leaving the mall soon. I've also heard that Northbridge is having a slight problem with minors running rampat through the mall. There was an incident at Claires that some kids were screwing around with some merchandise, the store operator told them to get their damn hands off the merchandise and the kid(s) went crying to mom. Turns out the mother called the cops on the store for yelling at her kid(s) when her kid(s) were the ones that were messing around opening inventory. The cops came and told the store owner that he can't talk to kids that way, but they did nothing to the kids. That whole mall is going right down the tubes.

If I lived in Clarks Grove and wanted to shop at Wal-Mart, knowing that mayor Eaton has a 1/2% added to Albert Lea's sales tax, would I go to Owatonna?  Lets say I am going to spend $100.00, which means the sales tax on my purchases will be $7 in Albert Lea or $6.50 in Owatonna.  The 50˘ on this purchase is not material even if this transaction is made each week of the year to total $26.00.  But in your mind you say, "I have choices!"  Knowing that you have choices might keep you away from Albert Lea, and that cuts out the spill over that George might see from those customers who stop coming to town over this tax.  Wal-Mart is a huge problem for our local merchants, but they will stop complaining about Wal-Mart the moment Mayor Eaton gives us the sales tax she says we all want!
