It's probably best if Vern doesn't attend the debate. He'd have probably looked silly when he recused himself from every Mayo question.
Vern knows the biggest problem this city is currently facing is accessibility to healthcare, and he won't engage in any discussions on healthcare because he's afraid of losing his day job. How self centered to think your part time paycheck is more important than your communities accessibility to healthcare.

date, time, and place? I'm not wild about the incumbent or the candidate.
looking at the downhill slide of economic conditions in our community—I don't believe you can lay that on local government.
Healthcare and losing our Hospital should take priority above all other matters. this is the death knell of our community Rasmussen, and Howland should have both resigned their elected positions because of the conflict between their employer Mayo and our City.
When I look at the totally unnecessary government spending (present and future) that can be laid at the feet of our local government/Mayor, e.g. Airport Terminal, Fire Station, turnabouts on Bridge St. relocation of Front Street, Community Center on Farmstead land etc.
put the cart before the horse— seems to be our current local government plan

Airport-around 95% of that should have been paid by the feds and the state through aviation fees, mostly taxes on fuel for planes.
Bridge Avenue has been in the planning stages for about 15 years. If they do go with roundabouts they are actually safer than all other forms of intersections and traffic moves much better with them.
The others you have lost have been discussed as “happening” since Farmland burned. I remember when that happened all the doom sayers said the town will completely close up. It didn’t. Losing the hospital is terrible. The citizens should upset. It will hurt. Most likely more than Farmland. But the city is not going to close up.
Albert Lea will always be Albert Lea. The little engine that couldn’t. Won’t die but won’t thrive. That community is split between those who want no change, no improvements, nothing that will help the area grow and those who have such crazy high hopes/expectations that it will never happen. I remember after Farmlanf there were many pushing to get a”high tech computer company” to move to town to fill the jobs need. Really? Because those displaced by Farmland were highly skilled computer programmers?
Mayor is really nothing more than a ribbon cutter in Albert Lea. The real position everyone needs to focus on and get right is the Coty Manager.

Thanks Expat. SB isn’t smart enough to figure that out. Or how to post links that actually work.

Yes, AL is run by imbeciles and self serving morons (I’ll let you two losers pick who you want to be) logistically rivialing the twin city metro. But short sited idiots think it should be a retirement community with a packing plant twist. It’s nothing like it was back as far as the late 70’s 80’s. It can’t change because leadership is non existent and any attempt to change up for new blood is quashed.
And now the citizenry is paying the price, hospital leaves, smart productive folks leave in droves, businesses pack up or close, I’ve watched it all over the years, even participated in moving a couple.
What is AL, 18k? I just bought a place in northern MN, a hospital, couple of nursing homes, clinic and a hell of a business base that is thriving and their population is 2500, not 25k, 2500.

SB, interesting, can you give us more detail on this small town Hospital i.e. affiliations, number of beds, profitability etc.
