I'm not sure why I'd put this in the opinion section instead of current  events.  But everyone has an opinion.  :D

I'm not sure if I would call this Bambino's first blunder of the year, but it has to rank up there with the best so far this year.

Obama puts self first ahead of solidarity march in Paris.

Sunday, President Obama morally abdicated his place as the leader of the free world.

QUOTE
His decision to stay home instead of standing side by side with French President Hollande as millions marched in Paris in solidarity with the slain journalists of Charlie Hebdo in opposition to radical Islam – an enemy fiercer than we have seen in decades – sent a clear message to the world: Obama just doesn’t care.

It's a sad day for the people who still are proud of this country and like to think we (U.S.A.) are still the leaders of the free world and we have a president who just doesn't care about anyone except for himself and those who still follow his idealism.

Bambino dissed the world yesterday by choosing to not attend the march in Paris yesterday and staying home to watch football instead.  Pretty selfish.  Pretty narcissistic.  Pretty Obama.  Sure he could use the excuse he chose at first, his security force would have been too large to handle.  Talk about lame.  :notworthy:

He could have sent Joe.  He'll go anywhere.  We know he loves Paris.

It's simple and I understand (I'm an understanding guy :D ) why would he take a stand against his own people?

Yep! the president fumbled the ball on this one.  Okay fine
he didn't want to go, but we should have sent someone?
What about the Vice-president, isn't that part of his job anyways?  Or at least the secretary of state?  The excuse about not having enough security is almost laughable.  With all those world leaders present the first ten rows of of the people in the march were security and cops.

French President Francois Hollande conveyed a message to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the weekend asking him not to come to Paris to take part in the march against terror on Sunday, according to an Israeli source who was privy to the contacts between the Elysees Palace and the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem. The fact that this message had been conveyed was first reported by Channel 2.

If that is true, which the rest of the article clearly makes a case for, then it wouldn't be surprising if the same unwelcoming message was also sent to Obama and other top officials.

Naw, I think they get along.  Bambino and French President Francois Hollande are both socialist nightmares.

Ok, maybe he should have gone. Then again where was all of the support when the towers were taken down? I didn't see anyone from other countries running to our aid, (maybe I missed it). We have always done the hand holding to the world. Miss one time and.... :notworthy:

If I remember right the French were quite supportive after 911.

I'm not saying they don't get along. Although I'm sure Obama doesn't like Hollande trying to get the sanctions on Russia lifted.

But it was a rally for peace and unity. Who would want the country who is the biggest threat to world peace to attend?

You honestly think nobody in the administration would have known what a blunder it would turn into if Obama or someone else didn't show up? Holder was even in Paris that day, but couldn't show up?- That's even worse! Obama and everyone else would have known how it would look if nobody was there, especially since so many other world leaders were coming.

The French were supportive after 9-11, just not supportive of the BS Iraq invasion.

Freedom Fries!!!

Showing up to march as a sign of solidarity is a wee bit different than "running to our aid."  SB is right, the French were very supportive, in fact President Chirac was the first foreign leader to visit the WH after 9-11.

FLASHBACK: French President Jacques Chirac First Foreign Leader To Visit WH After 9/11

Maybe Obama should have been there?  I think he blew a huge chance.  Look at all the foreign dignitaries and leaders who were there that he could have bowed and apologized to.   :notworthy:
