When you have the time I'd recommend the first debate between the GOP contendors that were willing to show up. I'll give my highlights below.
All in all it was a good debate, and it shows that Fox is able to ask republicans tough questions, but only when they're running against each other.
Most know how unlikely it is I'll be voting for any of these people, but I liked most of the answers by former Gov. Gary Johnson and Rep. Ron Paul. Those guys are pretty strait shooters, and their answers on legalizing drugs and getting out of being world police is music to my ears.
Ron Paul: Best explanation for legalizing drugs at 1hr 3min. Also in other parts explains why we should end the wars and stop military aid to Israel and other countries.
Herman Caine: Epic fail. He doesn't know what he wants to do about the war or what he would consider a victory. He says he wants to wait until President before he makes a decision on any of that. He wants to abolish the IRS and institute the FAIRtax, and at 30min even FOX debunked him and said it would cut taxes to the rich but raise taxes on the middle class. Herman Caine disagrees, but does so without citing any proof. I went to his website hoping to find it, but I didn't, just interview videos of his unsubstantiated claims. Where's the beef, Herman?
Tim Pawlenty: Moderators slam him for his ad saying he's for Cap-n-trade as Governor (flip flop). On the above link minute 58-59 was devastating to his reputation with conservatives. Also leaving MN in a huge debt because he continually borrowed from the schools to balance the budget.
Rick Santorum: I saved the worst for last. He defends his voting for expanding Medicare under Bush completely with borrowed money, and then blames Dems for spending too much. Even worse he defends his anti-Islamic statements referring to Islam as being stuck in the 7th Century. If I was a Muslim I'd probably ask why a conservative stuck in a 1st Century religion is going to slam Islam for being too old fashioned.
Gotta run, please watch the video on kick in your own interpretations or favorite parts.
-------------- You know it's going to be a bad day when you cross thread the cap on the toothpaste.
Didn't Pawlenty push for all those Somali refugees to come to Minnesota? You kooks should keep that in mind when you're bitching about Obama and the 10,000 Syrian refugees he says we should host.
