“The Minnesota Compassionate Care Act”

California has become another state with a right to death with dignity law

For those of young enough or lucky enough not to have witnessed unneeded long-term
suffering of a loved one, it’s barbaric, it’s torture, not only for the sick but family and friends.

As a civilized society we need to recognize this as a right, an option.

Minnesota is meeting some resistance, Sen. Chris Eaton, DFL is leading the fight..

No one ever wishes that life comes to the point where suicide is desired.  We have to remember that we are but the caretakers of the body we are given.

“I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody if asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect.”  Hippocratic Oath

QUOTE
Physician-Assisted Suicide Ethics Statement

We, as Christian physicians and dentists, believe that human life is a gift from God and is sacred because it bears God's image. Human life has worth because Christ died to redeem it, and it has meaning because God has an eternal purpose for it.

We oppose active intervention with the intent to produce death for the relief of pain, suffering, or economic considerations, or for the convenience of patient, family, or society.

Proponents of physician-assisted suicide argue from the perspective of compassion and radical individual autonomy. There are persuasive counter arguments based on the traditional norms of the medical professions and the adverse consequences of such a public policy. Even more important than these secular arguments is the biblical view that the sovereignty of God places a limit on human autonomy.

In order to affirm the dignity of human life, we advocate the development and use of alternatives to relieve pain and suffering, provide human companionship, and give opportunity for spiritual support and counseling.

The Christian Medical & Dental Associations oppose physician-assisted suicide in any form.

Approved by the CMDA House of Delegates
Passed unanimously
May 1, 1992. St. Louis, Missouri.

I believe a person should be able to choose when to end their own life.  Keeping someone alive against their wishes is only a benefit of finances for the care taking institution and a burden (emotionally and financially) on the loved ones.

After we screw up health care reform, let's take on the initiative of unscrewing the education system (gov't education)

thanks, but it might not be a good idea for you to hand me a loaded pistol, the temptation might be too much.

Maddog has gone religious on US, but should his beliefs be forced on me?

SB you've stated in the past that you worship the dollar so those beliefs wouldn't be holding you back, what's your opinion? Let say you're struck by Lou Gehrig's disease, would you want a legal option to escape prolonged suffering?

it's about choice, having that option, some people use it, many don't .

^I was just thinking that. They want a law passed so they can put the burden of costs on others.

There are plenty of DIY methods so why waste taxpayer money on creating another law?  And why are liberals so obsessed with death anyway?

It’s more about repealing government restriction, taking away a stigma about legality, freeing up a compassionate physician to write that prescription without being charged with a crime.

It’s my body, my life, my choice, prolonged suffering with no quality of life really makes little sense, if it’s your choice have at it, but it’s time to repeal government restriction on my choice!
