The Wahkon City Council discussed when, and if, they would have a guided tour of the scenic Wahkon sewer ponds at their regular monthly meeting on Oct. 14.
“I brought it up at Senior Dining,” said council member Dale Matte. “I had nine people interested.”
“If we’re going to do it, I think we want to do it before deer hunting season opens,” said maintenance supervisor Chris Weinreich. “We don’t want to have to put orange vests on everybody.”
The council decided to hold the Wahkon sewer tours on Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The diesel was spared
Weinreich informed the council that the city storage building next to City Hall was burgled during the first weekend of October.
“They took a 5-gallon can of gas but left the diesel,” Weinreich said. “It doesn’t look like they had to break in to do it.”
Weinreich said the burglar stole a steel backpack and a chainsaw, as well. Weinreich reported the theft to the sheriff’s office, and supplied serial numbers for the stolen gear as well.
Weinreich estimated the value of the stolen items at about $900.
“The minnow race apparatus is still safe and sound?” Mayor Sandy Reichel asked.
“Yes, it is,” Weinreich said.
“Well, it could have been worse,” Reichel said

Funny thing is I like Walleye Dundees, I rent ice houses from them from time to time and the cafe has pretty good food. It just has a corny sounding name.
