Per the Letters To the Editor to do with the Sheriff's election. Sometimes people move to South Dakota to avoid Minnesota personal income tax when they retire. So I don't think I personally can put any validity into a letter written by a person who retired and left this state years ago, who is trying to interfer in local politics. Its the residents of Freeborn County who we should listen to.

Also, considering it has been about 20 years since he retired, is another good reason not to give Trondvedt's letter any volition. He hasn't been a part of what has been going on in our city government to understand the horrible decline.

Bob Kindler is the only man the citizens of Freeborn Co. should consider for Sheriff. He is honest and knowledgeable and would listen to his staff. He would have a true open door policy, unlike Harig's. His open door policy only works if you are one of his "yes" men. Otherwise, STEER CLEAR!

I heard one of Harig's radio spots flipping through the dial the other day. He sounded kind of short of breath or something.

Like I mentioned before he will win either way. If he isn't reelected he gets to retire.

During the sheriff's debate, Sheriff Harig referred to one of the duties of his Chief Deputy as discipline. So then is he saying that last spring the Chief Deputy was disciplining the other Deputy when they were rolling around on the floor at the Moose club?

What was the story on the Moose club anyways? Pena and Arnold have always liked each other. Maybe they were just "wrestling" as sometimes boys will be boys even when they are grown.
IMO, Harig did serve a purpose when he first got in. But anytime there's missing money and the sheriff, city council, county commissioners, etc. don't want to come clean as far as even a reason why someone would make it up even if it wasn't true. Then they lose my vote.
I think Kindler will be a nice change.
When that many people that work under you complain it's time for a change. I will be very surprised if Harig gets re-elected this go round.

The fight at the Moose originated with Pena trying to pick a fight with an ex-employee of the Jail. Arnold tried to break it up and they ended up fighting. They were NOT just playing as boys can do!! According to others that were there, the cops were not called because they were cops! Harig didn't even reprimand them, let alone any kind of discipline as other staff have received.
