This one's pretty old, so I don't expect anyone to come up with any names.  (Although, if you do, you win an extra gold star for the day!)  This photo was taken in 1879 in Albert Lea.

See if you can guess who this group of people are and what they are doing.  I'll give you a couple of days before I give you the answer.  Have fun!

i am going out on a limb & will guess that this is a picture of an early fire dept. crew. they pulled the pumper to the fire and put the hose down the cistern in order to pump the water onto the fire.   :;):

I think USMCR has pegged it, looks like hose on the cart and the gentleman next to the cart appears to have a nozzle in his hand..

USMCR has it partly right!

This is the 1879 Albert Lea fire department's "Running Team."

They competed in an event in which a hose was attached to a a make-believe water hydrant; the team ran 360 feet with the hose unreeling from the cart, and then a nozzle pipe was attached.  The Albert Lea team came in second, losing only to the Red Wing team, whose time was 29 seconds, an United States record.

There's a little bit of a history lesson for ya!
