This is un-fing-beleivable. I found these pictures at http://www.davidrumsey.com/view.html. If interested you click on insite browser, then type in 1874 atlas in the keyword search. on the images 121 of 140 of 358 you will find the pictures I am posting below. You can zoom and look around with the viewer. It is pretty damn cool.
This picture is 1874 illustration of present day Park Ave point.

the first picture posted of Park Ave has a house in the upper right hand corner. This house still stands at 615 East Park. it has 3-4 fireplaces. was this the Ballard residence?
