State Rep. Buesgens accused of DWI
Mark Buesgens of Jordan was found driving a car in a ditch in Maple Lake Township Saturday night.
A Twin Cities state representative was arrested last weekend while driving drunk in a ditch in Wright County, authorities said Monday.
Mark Buesgens, R-Jordan, was stopped shortly after 10:30 p.m. Saturday by a deputy who saw him driving a car north in the ditch to the east of County Road 8 in Maple Lake Township, said Sheriff's Lt. Greg Howell.
In a preliminary breath test, Buesgens' blood-alcohol content was measured at 0.16 percent, twice the legal limit for driving in Minnesota, Howell said.
Buesgens, a former campaign manager for GOP gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer, was alone in the vehicle. He is accused of fourth-degree driving while intoxicated and having an open bottle of alcohol in the car, according to Howell
"Mark made a serious mistake in judgment," Emmer said in a statement. "I am thankful that he did not hurt others or himself. Driving under the influence is not acceptable. Mark is a friend. He is a good man. We will help him and his family in any way possible."
Buesgens said "I am very sorry and that I greatly regret my actions and how they have disappointed my family, friends and constituents. I have taken immediate, proactive steps to address this issue, including scheduling a chemical health evaluation with a certified professional. I will immediately undertake any recommendations made in the evaluation, and I have already made arrangements to start a recovery program."
Emmer and Buesgens were together briefly earlier that day at a campaign event, Emmer's campaign said.
Buesgens was Emmer's campaign manager from June through the weekend before the primary in August.
Buesgens also served as a consultant for Emmer, but a campaign spokesman said his last day was Sept. 12. Buesgens now works as a consultant for the state Republican Party, said Mark Drake, a party spokesman

That's an angry drunk there. Make no mistake about it. THIS is the face of society at the moment. Pot users are dirty duggies and drunk drivers are real americans who simply made a mistake. That mans eyes are GOP eyes.

DWI is now a partisan issue?
Yeah, have another bong.
That stuff has done wonders for that buffer between what you think and what you say.
