I try to be courteous and helpful but there comes a time when I just lose control and have to be a wise arse and hang up on people who really insult my intelligence.
Today a person calls up and says " my brother has an old windows 95 machine how would you update that to windows 98."
I replied, " well first you need the windows 98 update disk"
At which point she interrupts and says "Is that something you sell or I can buy.
I said, "You know I don't if I can even get it anymore and again she interrupted me in the middle of my reply. ( I wanted to finish with let me check and get your name and number and call you back)
She interrupted me by saying
"well if you don't know if you can get it, how do you know what needs to be done."
I said, "That's and interesting question why don't you call someone that knows, thank you for calling have a nice day". and I hung up.
Mind you I was busy with customers in the store. I was more than willing to answer her questions however she continued to interrupt me as I tried speak.

You must understand when it comes to puters it's all Greek to many people. Sounds like you were way rude. See what happens when you quit smoking? A short fuse...
But cigs aren't drugs..right? Get used to it...you'll have a short fuse for years.

You beat me to it, Replicant. I was going to comment about how Geo is usually the one using this forum to complain about bad service, and now he's using it to complain about a customer asking a legitimate question.
(Any question is legitimate if you don't know the answer, George.)
